During my trip to Ghana, the radio blasted political com-ments, criticising the President. “They’re corrupt” I was told by many. ‘Lights off’ was scheduled for every other day, whilst the pet-rol pumps closed, leaving queues running down main roads.

“Ghana is a free”, the Ghanians would say, “we are free.”

It was the World Cup at the time, and I was staying with an em-ployee of the National Stadium. A scandal was taking place - the Black Stars had demanded pay-ment in cash, not trusting the state to pay them. Eventually the President flew out with a plane full of cash, which kept the radio stations talking for a few more days.

I try to keep energy with in a shoot, to capture move-ment and bold stylings.

New York, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia were our stopping points. I was in Flatbush to docu-ment and film Equality for Flat-bush, an orgainsation fighting for the local residents against high rents and bad landlords.
