NFV: how the validation landscape changes

Shared Physical Infrastructure for most VNFs

Each VNF possibly requiring specific NFV-I capabilities

Networking usage

Storage usage

Specific HW capabilities

VNFs and NFV-I loose coupling implies also the decoupling

of NFV-I and VNFs life cycle (upgrading)

Fully Automated Continuous Validation

Conclusions and Next Steps

The automation of NFV Infastructure test and validation is a real

need to support NFV deployment and operation

The complexity of the NFV infrastructure makes its performance very

dependent on the fine tuning of it in terms of networking and storage

configurations

VNF performances and behaviour are also strictly related to VNF

design and VNF Manager design and capabilities

Next steps: Extending the tools to automated validation at VNF layer

Automate the tuning of the virtual infrastructure in order to optimize VNFs

performance

Automate the validation of business continuity advanced scenarios using VNF

Manager (High Availability, Self Healing and scaling behavior of the VNFs)
