My brother and I were discussing last week the question of just how much — or little — had been revealed to people under the Old Testament concerning the Godhead, heav- en, hell, and even about Satan. From the mentions made, I think there was more verbal knowledge of the facts than is actually recorded in Scripture: Psalm 9:17 speaks of the evil being cast into hell; David expected to go to be with his baby son who had died, but I don’t remember reading defining statements in the Old Testament about heaven and hell, as are recorded in the New Testament. Isaiah 61:1 [and there are other references, if one pays close attention] is a prophetic statement made by the Word, saying that the Spirit of the Lord God was upon Him — ref- erencing the Godhead; but how much did the readers understand these statements? Yes, there are OT references that show there was some knowledge, but how much more fully and clearly are these truths taught in the New Testament, and how much more is it pos- sible for us to understand them because we have the fulfillment of the prophetic statements and the fuller definitions of the spiritual realm in the New Testament! Do we, as Christians, stop to realize how utterly blessed we are to have the COMPLETED revelation from God? In those ancient days, the Scriptures were in the process of being written, few people could read, and no one would have had personal copies of individual books, much less of the whole thing. Today, we not only have all 66 books, but we can have them in the original languages or in multiple translations in our own language, along with concordances, commentaries, word studies, computer technology, and all kinds of additional helps! But even now, there are a few languages into which the Scriptures have not yet been translated; there are nations of millions of people that do not allow the free circulation of the Bible; there are places where calling oneself a Christian can be a possible death war- rant; and there are very few places in the world where people have free access to all of the study tools available to American Christians. To the degree that we want to know God’s thoughts and His message to mankind, we can avail ourselves of the treasure He has placed in the hands of the people of this present age! Let us be warned: “...To whom much is given, from him much will be required....(Luke 12:48). How hungrily do we study what He has given us, so that we can KNOW? Here at Home It’s been a busy two months. The Rushmores got home from their month in Guyana the first part of March, but the Bates were gone until the third week of April. By then it was time for the India Mission Conference (April 22-24), held on the Heritage Campus in Florence, AL. The reports from the various ones were encouraging, and the fellowship was good.

Dear Fellow Workers,

As the years pass, the commitment stated by Paul becomes more strongly our own dec-laration: “...I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12-14). The following week, we had tornadoes over much of the South, so there was uncertainty about when we would be leaving for our an-nual Missionary Retreat at the Maywood Bible Camp in Hamilton, AL. It was scheduled for May 1st and 2nd, but we go early to clean the cabins and make the needed preparations. The Bates, Rush-mores, Barriers, McKees, Larsons, Alex Del Zotto, Robin Dunaway, and I were on hand to greet participants as they arrived for the first meeting on Thursday. Overall attendance was about the same as in the past, though more than usual could be there only for Thursday or for Friday. Billy Smith of the Madison, AL church was the final speaker and he did a masterful job with a lesson on leadership. Prissy Sellers and Ruth Orr were able to partici-pate, and we were thankful that Ruth is making a good recovery from a bad fall she had as she was en route to the Philippines a few weeks ago. Prissy’s lesson was on “Priorities”, something all of us deal with every day. We enjoy the Retreat each year because it gives us an opportunity to talk incessantly about the work being done by the church throughout the world, and the fel-lowship of kindred spirits is strength to the soul!

I had a special spot of encouragement: the Wayne Parker family attended the Retreat last year, and we were happy to see them again this year. Their young son, Connor, surprised me by confiding that he really likes my Love Poems! In fact, he had memorized a selection from the book and quoted it for me! That’s never happened before! The whole family is looking forward to going to Palau to do mission work when their support is raised. Our annual team meeting is planned for July 7-9, here in Winona, trying to fit into everybody’s schedules. Let us know if you would like to join us. We usually have enough sleeping space to avoid motel bills, and we feed well! Come on!

Billy Smith of Madison, AL gave the final lecture on Leadership.

P.R. Swamy of Banga-lore, India was present for the retreat.

Colin McKee, Don Norwood, Gordon Hogan, and Wayne Barrier discussed questions raised by Mike Brooks.

The Voice of Truth International and Global Harvest

The clip art site we use for graphics was down for more than a month, due to a move, so that hindered work on The Voice of Truth International. It (Volume 80) will be a little late but has now gone to the printer. We are still investigating the possible solution to the shipping costs for getting copies to brethren overseas. We are having more copies printed in India and may increase that number further. We are comparing costs of shipping boxes from India to more of the countries on that side of the world. Sadly, it seems evident that any answer will still involve greater postal costs than previously.

As I said before, because of a shortage of funds and lack of time for me to do the layout work, we have decided to do only one issue of Global Harvest this year. Even that is later than I had hoped because I have been devoting most of my “at home” time to work on “Into God’s World” Bible class materials.

For brevity’s sake, I will limit the updates from brethren overseas to snippets:

Reuben Emperado: We now having our PIBS CLASS with 33 students. We have around 10 new stu-dents. So far we have seen the Lord added at least 232 souls in Medellin, Cebu; 23 in Borongan, Samar; 19 in Calbayog, Samar; 20 in Leyte and 3 in Mandue & Tayud.

It is good to have bro Robin Dunaway visit us and see first hand the work and understand its needs. His visit was a great blessing

I have decided to fix my kidney. It seems that surgery is the only option to remove the stone. Your prayers is humbly solicited. Reuben

Reuben’s surgery to remove the kidney stone will cost about $4,000. We hope that supporters of the work and his sponsoring congregation will help to cover the costs. Reuben and his family have been constant work-ers throughout their area of the Philippines for decades, and he is deserving of our help. If you want to contrib-ute, send the check to P.O. Box 72, Winona, MS 38967, earmarked for “Reuben Emperado surgery”. Philip VanBiak: What a great joy it is to be a child

of God and to be able to serve in His kingdom with you all. The school in Myanmar has been a good tool for evangelism. Many Churches has been es-tablished through the school.

Our Springs school began on March 17 and ends on April 18. We had about 35 to 40 students and teach-ers every day. We thank and appreciate all of you who made this school possible those who came and taught. Fifteen subjects were taught.

On the last day of our school, one man decided to obey the gospel. One man received his complete certificate ( Regular class). First, Second and Third

on the test were awarded and two ideal man and woman were selected and awarded. Lunch on closing day. Now I am taking some rest and expecting my child to be born, due May 5. Philip

Jerry and Paula were in Yangon for the spring school session.

I thought I would share my roses with you! This is a picture made last week of my sister (Onirah), brother (Curtis) and me, in one of his appreciated visits to MS.And a new edition of Eternal Sacrifice is with the printer, in color, and revised.

Into God’s World..... Tonight I posted on our printer’s FTP site the files the stu-dent book for one quarter of the 12th grade. One quarter of the 5th grade materials had already been posted earlier in the week. They have given a schedule of having the finished products back to us by mid-August, in time for the fall quarter. We want to have the lessons tried in several congregations, to see how this format works. If you would like to help with this evaluation by being one

of the Beta testing classes, please let us hear from you soon. Of course, not all of the proposed component parts will be ready by this fall. This is a huge project and getting everything organized will take time, but a good beginning has

now been made. After evaluating these student books, we will be able to move ahead more quickly with writing assignments, activities, art-work, etc. If you have volunteered to help with the de-velopment of the literature, we will be in touch. Many things beyond my control have hindered, and I apologize for the delays. Please pray for us in this very important work, that we will have wis-dom and perseverance to see it through to the fin-ish. God bless us all, Betty

The Gospel is our mission. The world is our home.“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;

and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.“I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18).

[Angels are] ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation... (Hebrews 1:14).

Don’t miss out on these treasures! The new issue of Global Harvest has arrived. Many will receive a free copy be-cause we are trying to make more brethren aware of its existence. We do need you to order the magazine ($10 for 2 issues), so that its future publication can be secured. The church needs this. Do you receive The Voice of Truth International,

our 116-page teaching magazine that is published quarterly? Many have proclaimed these two magazines to be the best in the brotherhood! Four issues of TVOTI are $15, 8 issues are $25; or the congregation can enlist for a box of 35 copies of each issue for $30 a month. We now have 106 titles, full-color, pocket-sized tri-fold tracts that will be extremely useful to you in your outreach ministry. In packets of 25, they are only 10 cents each. BBC
