A Letter from
Pastor B.J. Brooks
Aren’t you so grateful that Jesus paid
for your sins when He died on the cross
and rose again?
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin
on our behalf, that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Over the next 6 weeks, we have a wonderful
opportunity to get that message out in our outreach…
“YOUR BILL HAS BEEN PAID”
We are asking you to continue to pray and fast for those in our community who
need to respond to the gospel. We are then asking you to contribute the money
you save to the campaign, so that we can equip our members to pay for the bill
of the car behind them at participating drive through restaurants in Clovis and
Portales, reminding people of how Jesus paid their bill on the Cross. Brochures
and instructions will be handed out to our members on [March 30]. Those who
need them will also be given “Follow Me to Central” window stickers. We
will also be giving you “Your Bill Has Been Paid” yard signs.
We are praying that through this outreach ministry, we will reach many
families in our area as we remind them of the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Think of
all the lives that will be touched with the love of Jesus through paying the bills
of so many. Starting [March 9], will you fast, pray, and give what you save for
lunch or other meals so that others may hear that their bill has been paid by
Jesus?
Ladies’ Time Out!
Beginning on March 4, Central’s Women’s Ministry will begin a new
fellowship called Ladies’ Time Out. This will be a time for the ladies of
our church to catch up and keep informed of what’s happening at
Central. This is an excellent opportunity for our new ladies to get to
5
know one another, to discover needs and talents, and to learn how to
become involved in the Women’s Ministry of Central. All who attend are
invited to bring hand-work or crafts to work on while you visit.
Ladies’ Time Out will be held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at
2:00-4:00 pm and 6:30-8:30 pm in Room 202. Feel free to contact
Loretta Heavyside at (575) 799-3410 if you have any questions.
Please join us for this wonderful time of connecting with God and with
one another!
Serving With You,
BJ Brooks ‘

The National Poison Data System (NPDS) is the only comprehensive poisoning
exposure surveillance database in the United States. Maintained by the
American Association of Poison Control Centers, NPDS contains information
from the human poison exposure case phone calls taken by all 56 poison
centers across the country. Poison centers offer free, private, and confidential
medical advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can reach your local poison
center by calling 1-800-222-1222.You cannot use a cell phone when calling
into the Poison centers, only a land line.

Spice (Synthetic Marijuana)
Synthetic marijuana can result in brain alterations similar to the real thing, but
with the added danger that many of its chemical components and other
ingredients are often unknown.
Did you know?
Because little research has been done on these products, pediatricians are
concerned about the drugs' effects on the teenage brain. Experts predict the
synthetic drug may go so far as to affect memory loss and psychosis if it's used
over a long period of time. If you're a parent/guardian and suspect your child of
using synthetic marijuana, look for these signs: Excessive sweating, agitation,
inability to speak, aggression and restlessness. If a teen is showing these
symptoms, doctors recommend you seek medical attention for your child
immediately.
Please contact the NPDS for more information. 1-800-222-1222

From the Book Nook…
SPRING IS IN THE AIR!! Sometimes we may feel that Spring will never
arrive; however, the official beginning of spring is March 21st. Everyone will
be happy to have warmer weather after the extremely cold days we endured in
December, January and February. Since this is New Mexico, we know there
will soon be many days of blowing wind, but we can pray that the Lord will
bless us with rain to wash away the dust!
We hope you will enjoy the following lovely poem about Spring:
There’s Always a Springtime
by Helen Steiner Rice
After the Winter comes the Spring
To show us again that in everything
There’s always renewal divinely planned.
Flawlessly perfect, the work of God’s Hand…
And just like the seasons that come and go
When the flowers of Spring lay buried in snow,
God sends to the heart in its winter of sadness
A springtime awakening of new hope and gladness.
The Book Nook continues to add new books/media to the collection.
Some of the newest ones include: Within My Heart by Tamera Alexander;
Joyful Christian by C. S. Lewis; When Moms Pray Together by Fern Nichols;
Secrets of Harmony Grove by Mindy Starns Clark; Love Does by Bob Goff;
and
The Auschwitz Escape by Joel Rosenberg.
It is a joy to see young patrons (ages 2-6) find a book to check out. They love
getting to take a book or video home. These children are among our favorite
visitors to the library! It is truly a blessing for a child to appreciate books at a
young age.
Let’s welcome Spring with a new hope and gladness.

~Thanks... Thank you for your prayers and concerns. Surgery on 1/21/2014 was successful. Now
the process of healing begins. Our God is so good.
Ron Pearson
Central Baptist Members,
Sometimes we take for granted the simplest things in life. At times we don’t realize how
much we need others to lift us up in prayer until we know that only God can take care of
the problem. Thank you for all your cards, phone calls and especially your prayers
during my recent surgery and recovery. I am still mending and am on the road to
recovery. I not only have a terrific family that sees to all my needs but a church family
as well.
In Christian love,
Doris Wickham
Thank you to my church family for the many thoughts and prayers during the loss of
my mother, Emma Barris. A special thank you to the deadons for the paper goods, wa-
ter and ice you provided for our meals. And a very special thank you to Brother Alan &
Brother Joel for officiating the services.

Koinonia is an anglicized form of the Greek word, κοινωνία, which means
communion, joint participation; the share which one has in anything,
participation, a gift jointly contributed, a collection, a contribution, etc. It
identifies the idealized state of fellowship and unity that should exist within the
Christian church, the Body of Christ.
Please join us as we share the gift of friendship and the love
for cooking for our families & friends.
