ROSEDALE GARDENS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH “By the loving grace of Jesus Christ working in us, we are a people who
practice welcoming relationships and caring service, to the glory of God.”
FORGIVING YOUR FAMILY & YOURSELF:
A JOURNEY TO HEALING A March Bible Study Workshop Led by Pastor Kellie
Together we will explore reasons for pursuing forgiveness, crucial aspects
of forgiving, such as handling the desire for revenge, dealing with
anger, letting go of grievances, protecting ourselves from further
hurt, and letting ourselves be loved. We will focus on actions that
prove especially important when forgiveness seems impossible, and
on creating a family atmosphere in which forgiveness can grow.
Sign up in the church office.
Here are the dates: Friday Mornings at 10am-Noon, March 13, 20 & 27
OR Monday Evenings at 6:30pm-8:30pm, March 16, 23 & 30
*Light refreshments will be provided.*

WORK WEEKEND RETREAT
Have you ever roofed a house, built a deck or staircase, done plumbing, installed
doors or windows, or painted a house? Have you ever cleaned out a fire pit,
washed windows, swept walkways, planted flowers, spread mulch or painted
trim? You haven’t? Some assume that you have to be highly
skilled to go on the Work Weekend Retreat. Not so! There is
something for everyone to do. If your wish is to become more
skilled, we can teach you. Do you enjoy laughing and working
with others, learning more about yourself and your capabilities,
strengthening your faith and doing God’s work in helping others?
Do you like to make new friends and renew old friendships? If your answer to
any of the questions above is “Yes,” what are you waiting for? Please consider
joining us May 14 - 17 at Camp Skyline in Almont, Michigan for the 16th RGPC
Work Weekend Retreat. Cost of the trip is $125 and scholarships are available.
An informational meeting will be held on March 22 at 11:45 in the chapel.

The Per Capita amount for 2020 is $30.55 per
member. The Per Capita assessment is to cover
the costs of operating the Presbytery of Detroit,
Synod of the Covenant and General Assembly.
They in turn provide direction, support and
guidance to the local churches. Our church is
required to use operating funds to cover the
difference between the amount the congregation
contributes and the amount our church is required
to pay the Presbytery of Detroit. Please help us to
defray the cost burden this assessment places on
our operating budget by paying your Per Capita

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION - STEWARDSHIP AND MUSIC
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.” Psalm 100: 1-2
As I started pondering the relationship of stewardship and worship, I found it helpful to re-read the defini-
tions of each, so I could see how they intersect. Stewardship, simply, is to use the resources available to
take care of something. Biblically, we read in Genesis 1:26: Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our
image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the live-
stock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So, right from our
beginnings, God intended for us to be stewards, taking care of the world and each other. It is in our DNA.
A short definition of Worship is: to honor or show reverence for as a divine being. This is used as a verb,
an action word. It isn’t a passive, spectator concept. One way to honor God is by using the gifts he gave
each of us, unique and wonderful. We read in 1 Corinthians 12:27, and many other places in the Bible,
that we are the hands and feet of God and that we have each been given special gifts to use for his
purposes. Again, it is in our DNA.
So, putting these two ideas together, it seems only natural that we should use our gifts (resources) in such
a way that helps or takes care of the world and others. And in doing so, we are worshipping and showing
stewardship.
Personally, music is a gift that God gave me. Don’t misunderstand. This isn’t me saying, “I’m gifted.”
Rather it is my realization that the Holy Spirit moves through me when I use and embrace the gifts of
music. I have experienced this throughout my life, but it really became apparent at RGPC. Upon attend-
ing/joining back in 2007, Kathy Marzolf asked me to coordinate the music portion of Youth Group, which
my son Justin and daughter Jamie were a part of. I gladly accepted and quickly found how much of an
impact music made on everyone. Through mission trips, visits to senior care facilities, special church
services and regular Youth Group events, I saw first-hand God at work.
There have been many music opportunities provided and encouraged along my journey so far at Rosedale,
and I have testified to others that I feel the Holy Spirit working through me on many occasions. Even bet-
ter is the opportunity to bring others together to share their gifts of music. In this way, they may hopefully
experience what I have felt and be able to spread God’s gifts even further. I am so thankful to you all for
your support along the way.
My story is still unfolding and yours are too. Please join me in using your gifts to help others and you will
feel an unbelievable sense of purpose and wholeness, which brings honor to God. It’s a win-win!
Love and blessings, Mark Adams
