2020March Newsletter
Greetings First Baptist Church family!!
Eydie, Jackson, and I are honored and excited to be able to walk alongside you. We look forward to doing church with you at FBCJ and in the community. FBCJ is a special place and being able to serve as your pastor is a privilege. Eydie, Jack-son, and I look forward to reconnecting with relationships while beginning some new relationships as well.Update on the transition to Jasper:As of right now we have a contract on our house. We hope to close on Monday, March 16. That means we as a family will move to Jasper the second week of March. During the transition I will be staying in Jasper while Eydie gets the house ready to move, and Jackson can re-main in school. We truly appreciate your prayers and concern during this transition

Church Administrator Updates We are undertaking several initiatives to make the church safer for attendees at all our services and events. Kevin Crowe, Chairman of our Safety Committee, has been instrumental in getting some necessary activities completed or underway. Several of the key items are as follows.
• We now have all new fire extinguishers throughout the church.
• After the last required annual inspection of the sprinkler system for the Sanctuary and throughout the new building, several items needing repairs were identified. By the time you read this newsletter the repairs will have been completed.
• Repairs are being made to emergency lighting throughout the building.
In addition, Kevin is putting together a Safety Team. We will have more to share with you about this in the near future. We have a leak in the roof of the Chapel. It has been temporarily patched. A permanent repair will be made as soon as possible. We had another church work day on Saturday, February 29th with a long list of things to get done. We will be shar-ing a list of our accomplishments in the April newsletter. Good things are happening here at First Baptist Church of Jasper!
Grace and peace, Bill

February has been a very busy month in the life of FBC Jasper Preschool. We enjoyed celebrating Grandparents Day and meeting so many wonderful members of our students’ families. We also shared the love by hosting eleven different Valentine’s Day Parties for our students. The week of February 17-21st, students enjoyed a winter break and traveled near and far.
The first week of March we will celebrating Dr. Seuss week. If anyone would want to volunteer to read a book to a classroom please let us know!

“Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done mar-velous things; His right hand and His holy arm have saved Him.” -Psalm 98:1
As we look to the spring and to the changes that are coming during this season to the world around us, let us sing a new song:
• A song of praise – for our new pastor and his family!• A song of petition – for our church and our family of faith!• A song of thanksgiving – for God’s constant help and support!
Let us burst forth in singing, like a butterfly bursts from a cocoon in the spring, renewing our hopes, our devotion, and our dedication to the life of our church. There are many opportunities for you to join in this new song:
Sanctuary Choir meets every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.J.O.Y. Choir meets every second and fourth Friday of the month at 11:00 a.m.This month that will be Friday, March 13 and Friday, March 27.

Dear First Baptist Jasper, Thank you so much for your ongoing generosity towards our ministry with EMI. We were so encouraged by your year-end gift to our ministry and are grateful for your support - both financially, and in your prayers and encouragement. Thing here are going well. In our EMI world, my main focus has been the creation of a discipleship program for young professionals called the Fellowship. The two Americans that I supervise are heading to Zambia and Kenya this month to do an infrastructure assessment and a new surgical ward design both for hospitals. We're in the middle of a class on the Theology of Work and as I've been leading our 7 worldwide fellows in their spiritual development, it has been exciting to see how they are integrating their faith and vocation in deeper ways. I'm still keeping my foot in the door on design work and have been overseeing the design (and soon to be construction)on a school in a remote part of Uganda where education options are highly limited. On the home front, the family is doing well. Having 4 kids at 4 schools is exhausting so we are praying through options for next year. Our oldest, Mercy, is working on driver's ed so we are about to enter a new and scary world there. Overall, we've been grateful for the community that we've entered between church, our neighborhood, and an adoption commu-nity. Thanks again and we look forward to continuing the journey of faith together.
In His Grip, Jeff (and Jennifer) Austin
