When placing bids on items under $100 increase your bid in $5.00 increments. For items $100-$500 increase your bid by $15.00. For items $500-$1000 increase your bid by $50.00, and all items over $1,000 increase your bid by $150.00.

As a bidder, enter the highest amount you are willing to pay for an item. The highest bidder at the close of the auction earns the right to purchase it at the agreed price. You are only going to have to pay one-bid increment more than the highest opposing bidder. Of course, if someone outbids your maximum bid, then you will not win the auction.

When you place a bid, you enter the maximum amount you’re willing to pay for the item. The other bidders don’t know your maximum bid.

We’ll place bids on your behalf using the automatic bid increment amount, which is based on the current high bid. We’ll bid only as much as necessary to make sure that you remain the high bidder, or to meet the reserve price, up to your maximum amount.

If another bidder places the same maximum bid or higher, we’ll notify you via email so you can place another bid. Your maximum bid is kept confidential until it is exceeded by another bidder.

ExampleThe current bid for an item is $50.00. Tom is the high bidder, and has placed a maximum bid of $75.00 on the item. His maximum bid is kept confidential from other members.

Laura views the item and places a maximum bid of $90.00. Laura becomes the high bidder.

Tom’s bid is incremented to his maximum of $75.00. Laura’s bid is now $80.00.

We send Tom an email that he has been outbid. If he doesn’t raise his maximum bid, Laura wins the item.

Proxy bids are especially useful when you are bidding on many lots that are closing within minutes of each other. They will make sure that you don’t miss out on lots just because you are bidding on another lot.

At the close of the auction, the winner will be contacted with payment instructions.

can I raise my bid, even if I am the highest bidder?Yes, you can. Simply return to the auction item’s page, and place a new bid. Your proxy bid will be increased, but your existing bid will not increase unless you are outbid by another participant.

THE AUCTION WILL BEGIN AT 8am on Tuesday, March 16 and end in its entirety on Friday, March 26, 2010.

Please note on the last 2 days, there will be staggered closing times…depending upon the

category. This will enable you to watch items in different categories and give you ample

bidding opportunities.

These closing times will be clearly posted on the website during the actual auction.

ALL BIDDERS MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE.Please share our auction website with your friends and associates. There are a few items that are clearly marked with a “See Terms and Conditions“ label. The donors of these items have requested the bidding to be limited to the PDS community…PDS current and former parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, Board of Trustees and alumni ONLY.

VALUES of the items are donors’ estimates and are not warranted by PDS for tax purposes or general use.

PAYMENTS due in full per each bought auction item. For most items, we will accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover through PayPal. Note that no PayPal account is required. A few select items require payment via check.

ALL SALES ARE FINAL. There will be no exchanges or refunds of items by the donors except where specified. Items are not transferable.

CONDOMINIUM/VACATION HOME CONDITIONS: Arrangements for use of a condominium/vacation home or other privately-owned property is subject to agreement between the donor and the winning

bidder. Specifications in the brochure and/or on the auction site are those made by the donor. PDS holds no responsibility for their representation. Any cleaning or amenities charges made by the Condo Associations will be borne by the purchaser as such charges are variable. All condominium/vacation home purchases are non-transferable.

PDS has made every attempt to describe the items and services correctly, but everything is sold “as is.” Purchasers are bound by the precise restrictions specified by the donors. The terms are not negotiable. Please read the specifications and limitations carefully as described on the auction website. By his or her purchase, the purchaser waives any claims for liability against PDS or the donor of property or service, nor is the donor responsible for any personal injuries or damages to property that may result from the utilization of property or services sold.

PICK-UP: All items will be available for pickup at the PDS Advancement Office March 29 and 30 from 8-11am or call Lee Rantzow (901) 842-4613 to make arrangements for pick-up. All gift certificates that are not picked up on these dates will be mailed to the buyer within 2 weeks of the auction.
