commit to being “a laborer for Christ.” Get involved by praying for the unsaved to repent and
give their lives to Christ. Ask God to show you how to lead your family, friends, neighbors,
co-workers and even strangers to the saving knowledge of
Jesus Christ!
The Christian Education
Department is planning a great series of activities to Celebrate
Easter 2013. Please plan to participate in the Easter
Services. There will be an Easter Production on Good Friday and Easter Sunday this
year. Please get involved whether it’s a speaking or
acting part, set design and decoration, hospitality team,
Easter Egg Hunt, or Evangelism team. There is something for
everyone to do!
I will also be preaching the
Easter Sunrise Service this year. It will be held at Trinity Baptist
Church on Easter Sunday.
In His Service,
Pastor K. Daniel Dawsey Pastor/Teacher
Can you believe it’s already
March? 2013 is rapidly moving along and I am delighted to
report that Central Union is moving right along as well. I hope that each member of the
Central Union family senses the same wind that I have felt so far
this year! God is up to something, and He only does
BIG things, therefore, I am anticipating powerful movement
from Him as we continue our journey towards “Excellence In All Things.” I learned many years ago that momentum is a powerful force and right now I
feel God’s momentum moving in His church and our local
congregation.
January’s Holy Consecration
was amazing and the Black History Month Committee did an
outstanding job planning and sharing the Black History
Moments each week during February. Please take a moment and thank them for their efforts
and don’t forget the BHM culminating activity planned for
the first Sunday of March at 5:00
PM.
Talking about “momentum” what an exciting time March
brings. March is Women’s History Month so be on the lookout for the special plans the
Women’s H i s tory Month Committee has in store for us.
Don’t tell anybody but I heard there are some surprises in
store!
The next Small Group Study
kicks off the first week in March. The Small Group Study
is ent i t l ed “Ce lebrate Philippians” and is an in-depth study of the Philippian Epistle.
There’s still time to sign up for a Small Group and get
involved. Checkout the list of Host Homes and the day or
night they meet. Our Upward Soccer League is also
beginning in March so please support the Upward staff and
the children God entrusts to
our care.
Wow! That’s a lot, but none
of those are the most important thing happening in
March, because Easter is in March this year and Easter is
the most significant day on the entire Christian calendar.
Here’s where I really need your prayers and support! The
Resurrection of Christ is the t h i n g t h a t s e p a r a t e s Christianity from every other
religion. It is through the death and bodily resurrection
of God’s Son Jesus Christ that we have a relationship with
God. Jesus’ charge to the Christian Church
upon His departure from the earth was to occupy until He returns
to the earth to receive His church. That charge
is known to us as “The Great Commission.”
This Easter I encourage and challenge you to

relationship with Christ. Week 2: Pray for God to send people into our community to witness to those who don’t know Jesus as Savior and to give you
the conviction to be the first to go. Week 3: Pray for a successful kickoff to our
UPWARD Sports ministry. Week 4: Pray for God to save at least 10 souls during this month through our
evangelism efforts for His glory. Week 5: Pray for our Easter service to be a

WERE YOU THERE???: An Easter Experience Imagine yourself...2000 years ago. Living in the days and locales with Jesus where you might be on the street watching His Triumphal Entry. Are you exci ted? Suspic ious? Conflicted? Are you an adult or child? Are you a Roman soldier? Could you have witnessed any of the events from The Triumphal Entry where you were wondering: “Why is That Stranger such a big deal?” to the trials where a believer who was chosen personally by That Stranger to become one of His Disciples will deny Him or
even worse, betray Him?” Would you taunt and beat him mercilessly or feel the pain and sting of each lash and word knowing of His innocence? Is it a remote possibility that you could have been in the crowd that chose the release of Barabbas over The one in which no fault could be found? Were you there...to witness the pain and suffering of He who would b e c o m e t h e m o s t controversial figure from the time of His Birth to His triumph over death through Resurrection?
The Central Union Missionary Baptist Church Family invites you to join us i n o u r i n t e r a c t i v e presentation of this year's Easter Program, “Were You There???: An Easter Experience”. Whether you are a staunch believer, believer in training, or non-believer, this event aims to present an introspective performance that will simply, but, uniquely, present the realities of the Easter Season. The experience will be held on Friday, March 29th at 6:30 PM and Sunday, March 28th at 9:00 AM.
If you are interested in participating in “The Experience”, please contact Sister Faye Boyer. There are still speaking and non-
speaking parts available. If you have not returned your volunteer form, it is NOT too late.

Pancakes With a Purpose Theme nights are a hit for kids of ALL ages!
Awana was designed for kids and kids love to have fun. Well I guess we can admit that adults do too. So, what better way to liven up a club meeting than hosting a fun theme night! Many AWANA clubs across the country have implemented theme nights either weekly or monthly al-though some clubs decided to do away with them because of the time and effort it takes. Clubbers have to prepare their outfit or uniform ahead of time or have to do some task and this may be viewed as another stressor for the parents. While this may be true, U Crew has discovered that theme nights are another great attractor for the children that keeps AWANA fresh, fun, exciting and interesting each month. We have learned to use the theme nights, as well as contests, as incentives to complete more sections, get the clubbers interested in mission work and present Biblical truths in fun ways. Very often our games relate to the theme night as do our counsel time lessons. On Wednesday, February 20th U Crew held their first theme night for 2013 and everyone had a blast. What better way to bring in the New Year than in your pajamas enjoying a big, hot stack of pancakes with all the toppings you could dream of. Leaders heard clubbers saying, “This is the best night ever” and “I’m going to invite my friends next time”! In addition to have some much needed fun, clubbers were free to talk with other counsel leaders about any topic while playing a game of Uno or Candyland. Stay tuned for our upcoming theme night in March. Details coming soon. If you wish to lend a hand or an ear during our AWANA Theme nights, please contact Tiana Anderson and let the fun begin!

1. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. 2. A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3. A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up; 4. A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance;
5. A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together; A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;
6. A time to get and a time to lose; a time to keep and a time to cast away; 7. A time to rend and a time to sew; a time to speak and a time to keep silent;
8. A time to love and a time to hate; a time of war and a time of peace. ECCLESIASTES 3:1-8

To all members who have experienced illness, surgery, and/or bereavement, and we
are unaware, may God continue to bless you with wholeness and peace.
Congratulations to the Deaconess Ministry on their annual Go Red Program
which was held on Saturday, February 16th from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The
energetic speaker, Sister Patricia Duncan, RN, MBA gave numerous tips to
assist in the prevention as well as alleviation of obesity, one of the leading
causes of diabetes which is a leading contributor to heart disease and other
major medical problems. One tip included removing salt from the table so that
diners are not tempted to use it prior to tasting their food. After a while, the
need for the salt is not as intense. Following the Question and Answer period
and Fashion Show, a light reception was held in the Fellowship Hall where door
prizes were a wonderful culmination of the day’s festivities.

CHURCH HUMOR A Sunday school teacher
was discussing the Ten
Commandments with her
five and six year olds. After
going into great detail
explaining the commandment
to "honor thy father and thy
mother," she asked "Now, tell
m e . . . o u t o f t h e
commandments we have
discussed, is there a
commandment that teaches
us how we are expected to
treat our brothers and
sisters?”
Without missing a beat, one
little boy answered in a loud
definitive voice, "Thou shall
not kill."
A mother and daughter excitedly
spend the day attending a wedding,
something the child witnesses for
the first time. Prior to their arrival
and as the ceremony progresses,
the mother answers her child’s
questions about some of the
events taking place. Once the
bride came down the aisle and
reached the remainder of the
wedding party, the little girl
whispered to her Mother, "Why is
the bride the only one dressed in
white?" "Because white is the
color of happiness. Today is her special day and should always be
one of the happiest day of her
life." The child thought about this
for a moment. With all innocence,
she asks, "So, why is the groom and
all of the men up there wearing
black?"
