Important changes coming to SafeArrival system in May 2018

The Peel District School Board is currently using the SafeArrival system by Synrevoice Tech-nologies. As Synrevoice has been sold to West Communications, there will be slight chang-es to our SafeArrival system and how you will report your child’s absence from school. The phone number to report your child’s absence will stay the same, but there are a few other changes.

Beginning May 14, 2018, all elementary school parents/guardians need to report their child’s full-day absences, late arrivals and/or early departures from school via our new School Messenger SafeArrival system.

Please continue to use our current Synrevoice system until Friday, May 11, 2018. The new School Messenger SafeArrival will be live on Monday, May 14, 2018.

Important to note: The transition to a new company and system will require parents to set up a new account with School Messenger SafeArrival as data will not be transferred from the old system to the new. More information on how and when to set-up your new account will be coming in the next month.

“BE OUR GUEST” AT BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR.

Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. Thursday, April 19th 7:00pm

The Glenhaven Music program is excited to announce that Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR. is playing right here in the Glenhaven Gym for 1 show only, Thurs-day, April 19th! The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school aged perform-ers, is based on the 1994 Broadway production and Disney’s 1991 animated fea-ture film. The cast contains approximately 120 wonderfully talented and hard-working students led by our caring and outgoing staff members, Ms. Hambourg, Ms. Taubman, Ms. Trokeloshvili, Ms. Zubrickas and Mr. Mashinter. Beauty and the Beast JR. tells the story of Belle, an adventurous young girl, and the Beast, her hideous captor who is actually a young prince trapped under a spell. In order to break the spell, the Beast must learn to love another and earn her love in return – before time runs out. With the help of the castle’s enchanted staff, including a loving teapot, a charming candelabra, and a nervous mantel clock, Belle and the Beast find a beautiful friendship and love that neither knew was pos-sible. Beauty and the Beast JR. features classic songs from the Academy Award®-winning film score such as “Be Our Guest” and “Belle,” as well as original songs from the 1994 Tony®-nominated Broadway musical. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is presented through special arrangement with and all authorized materi-

als are supplied by Music Theatre International. 421 West 54th Street, New York, NY 10019

Intramural Basketball On Wednesday February 21st, Glenhaven had its first intramural day tournament for senior boys basketball. The tourna-ment was a huge success with over 80 athletes participating, and 10 student volunteers helping to set up, keep score, and facilitate the games. The day includ-ed the basketball finals with a traditional playoff format, a mini tournament, a

skills competition and a three-point shot competition. This intramural tournament was a fantastic opportunity for athletes at every skill level to have a chance to play and compete in a tournament setting. We feel that everyone should have a chance to play and we strive to create an inclusive environment that al-lows everyone who wants to play, an op-portunity to play. Thank you to all the players and helpers for showing dedica-tion and respect during the basketball intramural, as well as during the tourna-ment.

International Study On March 22nd & 23rd, Class 82 & 85 will complete the TIMSS assessment, an international study focussing on trends in Mathematics and Science.
