When Peter witnesses the trans-figuration of Jesus, and the appearance of Moses and Elijah, his first instinct is to “freeze that moment,” by providing tents for the three of them. But that encounter, like any encounter with God’s majesty and providence, is not meant to be frozen or hidden in a tent. It is meant to move us forward in, and to act upon, our faith.

PARISH MISSION STATEMENT In the spirit of St. Teresa of Kolkata, we honor Christ by com-ing together as one faith community with the pledge to reach out to the lonely and less fortunate. CHANGE

Lent is all about change and change is usually not easy. In order to change we have to leave something behind. Today

we hear about a very old man who decides to answer God’s call. Abram experiences a tremendous amount of change when he leaves everything behind, risking it all for God’s promise. Jesus changes, is transfigured, right before the eyes of his disciples. The Lenten scriptures issue the call for us to change, to be transfigured, so that we, too, will soon share in the glo-ry of God. What is it that the Lord

is asking us to leave behind? Are we willing to take the risk for the promise made by God? These questions are at the heart of the Lenten journey of conversion. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

SPRING WEATHER In the spring, I have counted 136 different kinds of weather

inside of 24 hours. —Mark Twain

SCAMS—Please be careful of scams. Lately people have been telling me that they got an email from me ask-ing them to respond. It came from an account with my name on that isn’t mine. I will never ask you for money through an email, and certainly not for gift cards. Please be careful! It would be nice to be able to trust everyone in our world, but the only one we can fully trust is GOD. May he keep all of us safe from those who want to take advantage of us. PRE-BAPTISM CLASS is required for fir st-time par-ents. The next scheduled session will be on Tuesday, April 7, at 7:00pm St. Pius X school building. To at-tend this session, you are asked to register by calling the parish office at 412-531-2135. GODPARENT/SPONSOR REQUIREMENTS—The Catho-lic Church guidelines to be a sponsor and godparent mandate a registered, active parishioner who is baptized, confirmed and practicing the Catholic faith and is at least 16 years old. To be active one must attend Mass on a regular basis. When you meet the requirements, you will need a Sponsor Letter to present to the parish where the sacrament will be received.

REMEMBRANCE: Our prayers and sympathy are extended to the family and friends of those who have passed away this past week:

There are 2 sessions: Tuesday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 24, from 7:00-8:15 pm at St. Pius X Church Hall. Free Program – Refreshments Pro-vided!! Questions? Contact [email protected] 412-563-0858. Dinners are available for those in need and those in the community simply desirous of fellowship. We provide an entrée, vegetable or salad, and dessert.
