Career Exploration Day Wrap-up:
On January 25th, the Castro Valley HS CPT Program hosted 22 agencies at the annual Engineering and ICT Career Exploration Day! Agencies were engaging and excited to educate their future workforce in their field of focus. Thank you to all local participants who were able to table and share their stories with our students.
Mid-Term Internships:
Thanks to the on-going collaboration of the Eden Heath District, our Chamber office has been able to work with local health care facilities to host mid-term interns! Our very own members: Baywood Court Retirement Community and George Mark Children’s House have graciously offered to host high school students who are focused in the field of Health and Well-ness. Thank you again to Eden Heath District for its continued backing of our educational programs.
Summer Internships:
Our students are eager and to start their internship program which will give them an invaluable opportunity to work with professionals in their field of interest. Prior to interviewing, they are required to attend three orientation sessions which will cover a variety of topics such as Internship Readiness, Harassment, and Soft Skills. From there, our students head into interviews with host companies and (hopefully) get placed for the 4-6-week program.
Last summer we were able to place 41 students with 15 different agencies and this year we hope to place 50! If you are or know of any business that would be open to hosting a high school intern, please have them contact Kim Hudson:
