    You are invited

    to

    Easter at

    First Christian April 5

    8:15 am or 10:30am

    Now thank

    we

    all our God

Now thank we all our God

With heart and hands and voices,

    Who wondrous things has done,

    In whom the world rejoices;

What a great old hymn of faith! When we think about the blessings and the grace we

experience, it’s easy to thank God with “heart” and “voices.” But the “hands” part is some-

    thing different.

We can wring our hands—“Aint it awful!” We can fold our hands and do nothing.

We can claim problems are “out of our hands.” We can wash our hands the way Pilate did—

absolving ourselves of any responsibility. We can follow the lead a singer at a Christian con-

cert. With great enthusiasm, he said, “Now, please join me in giving Jesus a hand.” And

    everyone erupted in applause.

Somehow I just don’t think any of these “hand” gestures is what Martin Rinkart had

in mind when he wrote the hymn.

Expressing gratitude to God with our “hands” means lifting them in praise, folding

them in prayer, and stretching them out in love to someone in need. Expressing thanksgiving

to God with our “hands” means stretching them out to serve, holding a hand and assuring a

friend you are with them, taking another hand and pulling them up, and offering healing

    hugs.

What will you do, TODAY, to thank God with your hands?

    In His love, Martin

    CHOIR NOTES

What a wonderful Palm Sunday ser-

vice! The children were delightful as

they waved their palm branches, and

Larry Cameron sang beautifully in the

    choir anthem.

This Sunday, the choir will present a

cantata, "The Easter Story." The songs

    retell Jesus's suffering, death, resur-

rection, and exaltation to the right hand

    of the Father.

    Songlist:

"Sing of Christ, Proclaim His Glory"

    "Ride On, King Jesus!"

"When I Survey the Wondrous Cross"

    "What a Savior!"

    "Dimensions of Love"

"My Redeemer Lives -- Glory, Hallelu-

    jah!"

See you this Easter Sunday! Paula

    MALAWI PROJECT

Malawi Needs Medicine Bottles……. We throw them away. They go to a landfill. After all, what can we use them for after the medicines gone? It’s those empty bottles, still clean and new that can be used. You can boil water and clean off the labels and glue and send them to Ma-lawi. So often in the small rural hospitals, medicine is dispensed into small torn pieces of newspaper for transportation to village homes. Norma Hughes and the FCC Outreach Committee will be collect-ing and sending your donated medicine bottles to Malawi South Africa. Thank you. Outreach Committee

  • This March our Sunday School

hour is Taking God’s Love to

    New Lengths!

The bad things that we’ve done-

our sins- have gotten us all tan-

gled up. And on our own, there’s

nothing we can do about it! But

Jesus came to get us UnTangled!

His love and forgiveness is the

only thing that can set us free!

This new VBS-Style Sunday School incorporates songs, skits,

small groups, and even games as we utilize fun new themes to

    draw attention to timeless truths!

Interested in helping out? We can always use more van drivers,

teachers, song leaders and smiling faces! Know someone that

needs a ride to Sunday School? Call the church office to setup a

ride, and we’ll be happy to pick them up!

What an exciting time to be involved in our student and children’s

ministries! We are seeing substantial growth in our Sunday School,

WAY program, and in our Jr. High/High School youth group!

    Along with growth comes opportunity!

Opportunities: WAY/Caraway – Our after school program is averaging 45

kindergarten - sixth grade students! What a blessing! To con-

tinue to minister to this age group effectively we will need

additional volunteers. You don’t have to teach, and you don’t

need to have the books of the Bible memorized, all we ask is

that you love Jesus – and you want the kids to know He loves

    them!

Jr. High Youth – Our youth programs have seen substantial

growth and our Jr. High/High School group is averaging 35-

40 students. With this growth comes the need for additional

support. We are looking for Christians who have the heart,

and patience, to work with 6th-8th grade students. If you’re

interested, PLEASE visit with Wade for more information.

    Upcoming Plans:

April 12th – Frontier City for just $13! We will leave the

church at 1:00. Eat before you come, and bring money for

concessions & souvenirs. Proceeds benefit “Make Promises

    Happen” a special needs camp.

April 22nd – Speed Friending @ 6 in the Big Room. This is

    going to be FUN!

If you are interested in attending, chaperoning, or would like

more information about any of these events please call/text

    Wade at (405) 385-2584.

Shrink Shrink: Faithful Ministry in a Church-Growth Culture is a

book by Tim Suttle, pastor of Redemption Church in

    Olathe, Kansas.

In the book Tim Suttle says successful leadership in the

church is often judged by what produces the biggest results

and fastest growth, while persistent faithfulness takes back-

stage. To be faithful churches and church leaders they may

need to shrink—their egos, their fame, their desire to be

bigger, better, faster, and stronger. Suttle suggests the alter-

native is faithfulness, not success—story, not strategy—

    virtue, not technique—cooperation, not competition.

If you are still searching for what will “fix” the church, if

you haven’t made up your mind that one swift decisive

easy action will solve the church’s “growth” problems, I

believe this book has some answers for us.

I so recommend this book I bought eight paperback copies

to offer as gifts to anyone who is seriously searching ways

to assist the church in becoming all God wants it to be. If

that is you, please pick your book up in the church office

    today. Thank you! Martin
