take place on April 12th during the 10:30 am Mass.

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE The Passion of Jesus makes it clear, no one escapes suffering. Suffering is inevitable but no one should suffer alone. That is one of the primary roles of families, to stand with and support each other in suffering.

PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD

First Reading: Isaiah 50:4-7 Isaiah describes the pain and insults of the Servant of God. Yet he sounds hopeful when describing God as his help, knowing he will not be disgraced. Second Reading: Philippians 2:6-11 Paul exults Christ’s great sacrifice of humbling himself to become human and die on the cross. He explains that this is why we should now realize the importance of honoring both his name and memory. Gospel: Mark 14:1—15:47 Mark describes the events leading up to Christ’s crucifixion. The Last Supper is described, explaining where the Eucharist began. Judas betrays Jesus and his suffering at the hands of the Sanhedrin (Council) is detailed.

The program will feature our wonderful choir, instrumentalists and soloists. Selections from Mozart, Rutter, and Lloyd Webber will be performed, as well as a sung Passion According to Saint John, with special guest, Charles Pistone, singing the role of Jesus. Please join us for this memorable event to heighten the solemnity of this season. Only a free will offering will be requested.

USHERING IS A GIFT OF SERVICE AND HOSPITALITY

MEN, WOMEN, and TEENAGERS: There is a need for additional people to assist with ushering at all the Masses. Women are invited to join in this ministry as well as men, and we would love to have teens also. It simply involves letting the head usher know when you are present at Mass. Then he/she will let you know if you are needed. The duties include assisting with the offertory collection; help seat people and handing out bulletins at the end of Mass. Additional Sacristans are also needed for the weekend masses. This involves preparing for Mass about ½ hour before it begins. Thank you to the dedicated ushers and sacristans who continue to give this gift of service and hospitality. If you could help with either of these ministries please call the Rectory Office at (561-4235, option 3). Training will be provided.

VISITATION TO THE HOME BOUND

Visitation to the homebound is a beautiful ministry of presence and care with many blessings. Currently there are

parishioners who visit the homebound and also provide the Eucharist if desired. We also have a beautiful Prayer Shawl Ministry, whose shawls are given to the sick and homebound as a symbol of the love and support of our

community If you know of anyone, of ANY age, who is sick, disabled, or homebound and would be uplifted by these ministries, please contact Gigi in the Rectory Office.

PONTIFICAL COLLECTION FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE HOLY LAND

PALM SUNDAY WEEKEND Christians around the world are united in a special way during Lent, Holy Week and Easter. Our hearts, minds and prayers are also especially aware of the Holy Land. Our parish, once a year on Good Friday, is called on to support Christians in the Holy Land. Many Christians in the Holy Land depend on the collection for their lives. As a pontifical collection requested by Pope Francis, the annual Good Friday Collection offers a direct link for parishioners to be witnesses of peace and to help protect the Holy Places. When you donate on Good Friday, you are supporting Christians in the Holy Land. Franciscans and others in the Holy Land are housing and feeding the poor, providing religious formation and education, maintaining shrines and parishes, and conducting pastoral ministry.

2015 ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL Thank you to the parish families who have made a gift or pledge commitment to the 2015 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. If you have not yet had the opportunity, please consider prayerfully supporting the many Good Works of the Archdiocese. Every gift will be gratefully received and sincerely appreciated.

ENCOURAGE SUPPORT GROUP TO MEET WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15 AT 7:00 PM

EnCourage (part of the Courage Apostolate) is a support group for parents and others whose loved-ones experience same-sex attraction. Members support each other in honoring our loved ones and in seeking to grow in our Christian faith and in honoring the Church's teachings. For more information, including meeting location, contact Fr. Robert Landback, Chaplain: 203-488-1607 X25.

GRAND PIANO FOR SALE Our beautiful piano in the Parish Hall is for sale. Formerly owned by Bob Ellsworth, it is in excellent condition, and was professionally regulated. It is 6’1” in length and has a high gloss ebony finish. If interested, contact Tim Stella at 860-983-4029.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus sent his disciples to borrow a colt. Animals were valuable posses-sions, and the people watching the disciples asked them why they needed the colt. When the disciples said it was for Jesus, the people allowed them to borrow it because they thought Jesus was going to be their new King. The people shouted “Hosanna” and waved palm branches as Jesus was passing by. Hosanna means “save us.” The crowds wanted Jesus to save them from the harsh rules of their leader, but Jesus' Kingdom was not what they thought. Jesus came to save people from sin and to share with them the Kingdom of Heaven!

“I will declare Your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise You.”

Psalm 22:22

This week we celebrate Holy Week, which is the most important week in the Church year, be-cause it is when we remember Jesus' death on the cross for our salvation. On Palm Sunday, we hear two Gospel readings. The first Gospel tells us how Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a colt and was greeted by the crowds. The crowds shouted praises to God because they thought Jesus was coming to save them.

In the second Gospel reading for this Sunday, which is also called Passion Sunday, we hear the details about several events: Jesus' Last Supper, His prayer in the Garden of Geth-semane, Judas's betrayal, the arrest of Jesus, Peter's denial of Jesus, and how Jesus was ac-cused and sentenced to death. This year we read the passion from Mark's Gospel. Let's prayerfully listen to this Gospel message!

Come and join us as we worship Christ dur-ing the Triduum (which means “three days“) on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. There are NO Faith Forma-tion Classes next Sunday, April 5th as we celebrate Easter Sunday. Let us all give thanks to God for giving us His only Son so that we, too, may have eternal life in Christ! Holy Week is meant to bring us all closer to Jesus so that our hearts may be filled with Easter joy!

Let us pray…

Dear Jesus, this week we remember Your Last Supper with Your friends. You gave them bread and wine saying, “This is My body. This is My blood.” After dinner You even washed their feet! We thank You for

the gift of Your Presence in the Eucharist, and for teaching us how to care for one another. Help us to always imitate Your generous love by giving from our hearts to all who are in need.

We ask this in Your Holy Name. Amen.
