something new.
On April 21st, (the Sunday before our
next Guild meeting) we are planning a field trip down to the Coldwater Alpaca
Ranch to tour the farm and see the
shearing process. I hear there will be fiber
there for sale, so if you spin or felt this
may be for you! After the farm, we will
travel to Oxford, MS for lunch and then
visit the Knit 1 Oxford yarn shop which
Patsy will be opening Sunday just for us!
A couple of notes for the trip:
We will meet in the parking lot of the
Malco theater near Hank of Yarn at 8
AM on the 21st. We should be back
in Southaven no later than 4 PM.
If you would prefer to ride instead of drive let me know ASAP. We will

vote on renting a passenger van for
the trip at Monday's meeting. If we
do not have enough interest, we will
work out carpooling in the parking
lot before we head out.
Also, if your contact information has
changed since you joined the guild
(Address, Phone, or E-mail) and you did
not take the retreat survey, please get
Maggie the updated contact information.
As always, if you have any ideas or
suggestions for our time together, please
do not hesitate to get in touch with me or
any of your officers!

VP Report
Our program this month will be "Using Online Resources" by Rachel, our Social Media Coordinator. I am so looking
forward to this. Bring your Kindles, IPads, IPhones to learn how to do these things. If you are like me, all help is appreci-
ated.
Thanks to Hank for a great program last month.
April will be Show and Tell month. I think the limit will be 2 items to show per person, so everyone gets a chance to show
off and answer any questions someone might ask about your items.
See you all Monday night.
Gail

Social Media Updates For this month’s program, I will be instructing everyone in tips of working with the different social media. For homework, please
bring your tablet or iPhone to follow along if you want. Also, if you don't have a ravelry account, you may want to sign up and poke
around a bit so you can have a little bit of familiarity with it.

Lego Mechanical Loom
This machine, built predominantly from Lego
bricks, runs off a Lego Mindstorms NXT kit. Like
an actual loom, the Lego machine takes a reel of
wool and separates it into strands. An arm then
runs another wool strand across the others, and
pulls it firm—this creates the weave typically
found on knitwear garments.

Charity Corner
Our current charity project is to make slippers or thick
socks for people in the Crossroads Hospice. All slippers
need to be turned in by the May guild meeting and the
person who knits the most wins a prize. To help in the
effort, we are having a knitting day at Hank of Yarn. The
date for the slipper knit-along at Hank of Yarn has been
changed to Saturday, April 6th. Come and join in the fun!

Tip of the Month How to Remove Ribbing from a Garment Knit from the Bottom Up
Thread a needle with a doubled piece of scrap yarn the same thickness as your knitting. Thread it through the row of
stitches that you want to begin knitting at later on, making sure that the right hand "leg" of each stitch is on the front of
your darning needle. This way all the stitches will be the correct way round when you slip them onto your knitting needle
later on. Carefully cut the stitches above the row you have threaded with yarn. If you're nervous about cutting the
stitches you want to knit with you can cut the stitches several rows above.

It's only because I feel like such a philistine spending all that time in hair and makeup that I started to knit. I used to spend that time studying Italian and French. Then after I had two kids, my brain turned to mush and I took up knitting.
