Reflection of the Gospel:

If you do not repent, / you will all perish.

When Jesus tells the crowds that they

must repent lest they perish, he is speak-

ing of a spiritual death rather than a phys-

ical one. After all, the first part of the

gospel is denying the all-too-human

belief that bad things only happen to bad

people. Instead, we are called to focus

on the fruitfulness off our own fig trees.

Have we been cultivating and fertilizing

the soil of our lives so that we might bear

good fruit in the kingdom of God?

Lord Jesus, increase my hunger for you that I may

grow in righteousness and holiness. May I not

squander the grace of the present moment to say " yes"

to you and to your will and plan for my life.

Reflexión del Evangelio: “Si no te arrepientes, perecerás”. Cuando

Jesús les dice a las multitudes que deben arre-

pentirse para que no perezcan, está hablando

de una muerte espiritual en lugar de física.

vidas para que podamos dar buenos frutos en

el reino de Dios

Señor Jesús, aumenta mi hambre por ti para que pueda

crecer en rectitud y santidad. Que no desperdicie la gracia

del momento presente para decirte" sí " a ti, a tu voluntad y

al plan para mi vida".

MINISTRY ASSIGNMENT

We have two trees at the back of the rectory.

One is a lemon tree while the other is an orange

tree. For years these trees have been bearing a

lot of fruits. This season our lemon tree has

surprisingly produced much more fruits than it

usually did. I would pick its fruits for our use in

the rectory and also share it with others. The

orange tree, however, for whatever reason, had stopped bearing

fruits. Every season, flowers would bud though, but will dry up

later. For some years now, we haven't gotten a decent and

palatable fruit. The readings this weekend talk about trees; the

first reading is about the burning bush, while the gospel tells us

about the parable of the fig tree how Moses would encounter

God through the bush on that holy ground, the Lord would

reveal to him his mission. Moses eventually goes to fulfill the

will and plan of God for his people by this revelation at the

burning bush would eventually yield the fruit of the liberation

of the people. The parable of the fig tree, on the other hand,

offers a promise of a harvest by the gardener. He would

cultivate the ground around the seemingly useless tree; fertilize

it, with the hope that it will bear fruits the following year. Our

lives as Christians can be likened to these plants; like the

burning bush, our lives should glow and radiate God’s love and

compassion. Our hearts should be set on fire in proclaiming the

message of the Kingdom of God. But we also need to cultivate

the ground in our lives and fertilize it with prayer, Word of God

and the Eucharist so that we can bear fruits of the kingdom. As

we stand on holy ground in our celebration around the Table of

the Lord, let us be nourished and fertilized by the Eucharist and

the word of God. Let us also renew our commitment to our

calling and mission as Disciples of Christ. Our lemon tree,

which is glowing with its beautiful yellow fruits, is so

delightful to look at. It serves as an inspiration and invitation

that we should likewise be fruitful. The orange tree serves as a

challenge and a calling to do something: cultivate the ground of

our lives and put fertilizer so that we eventually will yield a

bountiful harvest.

todos los Lunes a las 7pm.

Tenemos dos árboles en la parte posterior de la

rectoría. Uno es un árbol de limón y el otro es

un naranjo. Durante años estos árboles han

estado dando muchos frutos. Esta temporada

nuestro árbol de limón sorprendentemente ha

producido muchos más frutos de lo que solía

hacer. Corto sus frutos para nuestro uso en la

rectoría y también lo compartiría con otros. El naranjo, sin

embargo, por cualquier razón, ha dejado de dar frutos. Cada

temporada las flores brotan, pero se secan más tarde desde hace

algunos años no hemos conseguido una fruta decente y sabrosa.

Las lecturas de este fin de semana hablan de árboles; la primera

lectura es sobre la zarza ardiente, mientras que el evangelio nos

cuenta acerca de la parábola de la higuera de cómo Moisés se

encontraba con Dios a través de la zarza en esa tierra santa, el

Señor le relevaba su misión. Moisés finalmente cumplía la

voluntad y el plan de Dios para su pueblo con esta revelación

en la zarza ardiente que eventualmente rendiría el fruto de la

liberación de la gente. La parábola de la higuera, por otro lado,

Nuestras vidas como cristianos pueden compararse a estas

Pero también necesitamos cultivar el terreno en nuestras vidas y

fertilizarlo con la oración, la Palabra de Dios y la Eucaristía

para que podamos dar frutos del reino. Al estar en tierra santa

en nuestra celebración alrededor de la Mesa del Señor, seamos

alimentados y fertilizados por la Eucaristía y la Palabra de

Dios. Renovemos también nuestro compromiso con nuestro

llamado y misión como discípulos de Cristo. Nuestro árbol de

limón, que brilla con sus hermosos frutos amarillos, es tan

encantador de ver. Sirve como inspiración e invitación para que

también seamos fructíferos. El naranjo sirve como un desafío y

un llamado a hacer algo: cultivar el terreno de nuestras vidas y

poner fertilizante para que finalmente podamos producir una

cosecha abundante.
