Embodied This Lent, we long for a faith that engages all of who we
are – mind, body, heart and soul – and invites us to be
present in our bodies and in the present moment.
Please use the form below to indicate what you would like
to order and the names of those to be honored/
remembered. Attach your check for $13.00 per order and
return them to the church office or you may place your
order(s) in the offering plate on a Sunday

March 25. We look forward to celebrating the resurrection
of Jesus, the Christ and are thankful for the contributions
of flowers.

A Church Funny “A minister was asked how long he kept a person
under the water while performing a baptism. He
replied, ‘Long enough to do them some good!’

Stewardship SummaryStewardship SummaryStewardship Summary
Historical Tidbits From
The church membership totaled
1,038, 425 men and 613 women.
The United States had entered into
World War I. Nearly 70 FBC men
and women had joined the armed
forces, many of them stationed
overseas.
The church established a Comfort
Committee for War Service Men.
This group reached out to minister
to the Marines stationed at the
newly created base at Quantico. A
good number of Marines began
attending the church services.
While relaxing on vacation, Pastor
Emerson Swift reflected: “Looking
over the records of the year, I find
the labor has been strenuous yet
fruitful in souls and gifts to the
Kingdom. We have received 74 by
baptism since March. Our gifts to
missions have been larger than any
year, and in addition to the generous
giving the church has liberally
helped the Red Cross and camp
work. Fredericksburg stands ready
for great tasks.”
The church Property Committee
urged the church to investigate
wiring and installing electric lights
to replace the gas fixtures that often
emitted a disagreeable odor. When it
was determined the work could be
done for $375, Deacon W.A. Bell
stood up in a business meeting and
initiated a spontaneous collection
that netted $270. The church
installed electric service a short time
later.
Will Resume on April 8

th Historic Garden Club
of Virginia
Orange County Saturday, April 21st
Three hundred years of architecture will
come to life on this tour through the
stunning countryside of Orange
County. Visitors will appreciate the
evolving tastes and styles of the tour’s
highlights – a 1720’s farmhouse,
elegant in its simplicity, a fancy
Victorian painted lady, a 20th century
stately brick home. History blends
with friendliness and hospitality on
this driving tour of private homes and
gardens in Virginia’s Piedmont.
We will leave the church at 8:30am
and travel in a church bus to each of
these locations. There will be food
trucks available at Bloomsbury as
