Addee Owen and Gabby Hora came to us through the Work U internprogram at BSU. Addee and Gabby have been instrumental in helping update our member records andour Chamber website, and we greatly appreciated their time and efforts. Nat ional Groundhog Job Shadow DayNat ional Groundhog Job Shadow DayMeridian, Idaho – The Meridian Chamber of Commerce facilitated the second annual Groundhog JobShadow Day this month – February 4, 2019. Over 180 students were given the opportunity to sign upfor a job shadowing position with one of 33 local businesses who participated.Richard Bonney, Meridian Chamber of Commerce CEO had this to say:“The Job Shadow Day Program provides students a work-based learning opportunity that can have aprofound impact on them as they plan their futures. Students have a first-hand look at the skills,knowledge and education required to succeed in various careers. The community partnerships createdbetween schools and businesses will help support a local talent pipeline for Meridian and the TreasureValley. We appreciate all of the businesses who participate in this program and invest in our students.”After successfully facilitating the connection of 95 students with local businesses in 2018, the MeridianChamber of Commerce automated the registration process and joined with the Kuna Chamber ofCommerce for 2019. The combined community posted 185 job postings on January 22, 2019. By thenext day (Wednesday, January 23, 2019) all 185 positions had been filled by local students.The Meridian Chamber of Commerce and West Ada School District are looking forward to participatingin the National Groundhog Job Shadow Day again in 2020. This year's Dress for Success Boise Valley's Gala event will be celebrating 20years of serving women in the Boise Valley. The Gala will be held on April 13,2019 at Boise Center on the Grove from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Dress for Success is dedicated to the goal of helping women overcome their loweconomic situation with appropriate attire and coaching on basic interviewetiquette that will allow them to interview and receive a job.
