Development Office News:

Volunteers Needed for Gala The 37th annual Scotus Gala dinner/auction will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018—just a few weeks away! We are actively seeking volunteers who will serve the Gala dinner from 6:45 pm to 8:45 pm. You will have a great

time, meet lots of Shamrock supporters, and enjoy a free admission to the Gala and a complimentary meal! We especially encourage our junior high parents and students to accept this stewardship opportunity for Scotus Central Catholic.

Parent help is also needed to assist with clean-up efforts immediately following the Gala auction (approximately 10:15-11:15 PM) and we need both parents and students again on the following Sunday morning (April 15) from 9-10:30 AM.

Without this event, tuition would have to be raised $550 per student. There’s a good reason to roll up your sleeves and contribute an hour or two for our most important annual fundraiser.

The Gala co-chairs are Kevin and Heather Bridger, Chris and Cathy Hutchinson and Bill and Michell Ruskamp. Gala vice-chairs are Mark and Nicole Lindhorst, Scott and Amy Schaecher and Mark and Andrea Schumacher.

If you would like to volunteer to help, participate by donating an item for the silent or oral auctions, or if you wish to receive an invitation to attend, please contact Janice Rosenquist in the Scotus Development Office 402 564 7165 ext. 154 or [email protected].

Special Gala Fundraiser Each year, we ask our Gala supporters to consider funding a special capital improvement for the school. This year, we

hope to raise funds to support the remodeling of the Media Center. This includes additional meeting room space and more functional space for both study and student gatherings. Please contact the Scotus development office if you would like to support the Media Center remodel project or any of the special requests on the Faculty/Staff Wish List.

Children’s Scholarship Fund This unique program provides scholarships to help students attend our Catholic schools. Every dollar you contribute is

matched by nearly $2 from the Children’s Scholarship Fund of Omaha and returned to Columbus in the form of scholar-ships. Last year, we raised $20,239 in our three parishes, submitted that sum to CSF-Omaha and we received $60,700 in scholarships. Not a bad investment. Please be generous with your cash donation or your check made out to: “Children’s Scholarship Fund.” Donations may be dropped off at Scotus or your parish office.

1th Annual Shamrock Open Golf Tourney The date for the 11th Annual Shamrock Open has been set for Saturday, June 2, 2018, with a shotgun start at 1 PM. The

tournament, to be held at Tiburon GC in Omaha, is open to all Shamrock graduates, supporters and friends and is known for its excellent flight and flag prizes, good food and exceptional camaraderie.

Sponsorships are available and especially encouraged from class years. If members of a class would like to pool money together to sponsor a hole or purchase prizes, please let us know. This year’s tourney goal is to help purchase additional ventilation for the boys’ locker room along with new football lockers.

For more information about registration or becoming a tourney spon-sor, contact Nick Puetz at: [email protected] or Joe Puetz at [email protected] or John Schueth in the Scotus development office at [email protected] 402 564 7165 ext. 109.

Okay to Carry OTC Medications Students can carry or store in their lockers over-the-counter medica-

tions, such as aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, allergy medicine and throat lozenges.

Students are not allowed to carry or store prescription medications. All prescriptions are kept securely in the Central Office from which they will be dispensed according to physician’s instructions. Paperwork for stu-dents needing prescription medicine is available on school website at scotuscc.org and in the Central Office.
