THE MOB MUSEUM MAR 2015MAR 2015 THE MOB MUSEUM

The date was June 20,1947. Benjamin “Bugsy”Siegel sat in the living

room of the home he shared with Virginia Hill in Beverly Hills. Late that night, Siegel wasshot several times and died on the couch as he read thenewspaper.

Siegel had recently opened the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas and his associates suspected he

was skimming money. However, many theories exist as to why he was murdered. Had he been involved in a love triangle bet-ween Virginia Hill and another mobster? Or had he upset the wrong people involved in the race wire? There were so many mot-ives involved, the police captain in Beverly Hills said: “So many people wanted to kill him that we don’t know where to start looking."

The Mob Museum will host a panel discussion on the life and death of Bugsy Siegel on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at 7 p.m. with Larry Gragg, professor and author on Siegel’s life, and Warren Hull, filmmaker and historian. The Mob Museum's Geoff Shumacher will moderate the discussion on the various theories surrounding the circumstances of Siegel's death.

WHO KILLED BUGSYSIEGEL?

Courtroom Conversations help fulfill The Mob Museum’s mission to advance the public understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society. PreviousCourtroom Conversations have

included “Women in Gaming,” featuring Elaine Wynn and Jan Jones Blackhurst, and “Protect-ors of the State,” with former Nevada governors Bob List, Richard Bryan and Bob Miller.

On Thursday, April 16, the Museum will host Follow the Money about the T-men, the forensic accountants of the

Treasury Department. T-men helped to get to the bottom of some of the most high-profile cases and put away notorious mobsters, including Al Capone, who was linked to Lindbergh kidnapping.

MAR 2015 THE MOB MUSEUM

The Mob Museum opened on February 14, 2012 — exactly 83

years after the infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in Chicago.

The Museum portrays the roots and evolution of orga-nized crime in America, as well as the justice system’s efforts

and innovations in the fight against the Mob. Rare artifacts, cutting-edge video and dynam-ic interactive experiences tell this story in an authentic and

eye-opening way.All the colorful characters are

here — the men and women who played leading roles on both sides of the law.

The Museum offers a full slate of educational program-ming year-round, including panel discussions, Author Talks, Members-only gather-

ings and major events such as Hot Havana Nights, Kefauver Day and Repeal Day.

Since its opening, the Muse-um has earned global acclaim

and become a vital community resource with a mission of serving the public as a center for informal learning.

As the only museum dedicated to telling the story

of organized crime and law enforcement and its effects on Las Vegas and the world, the Museum’s list of awards and accolades continues to grow.
