A Note From Bob -

At Sheridan House we have a lot of special events and “Asks.” But that is not why we are here. In fact, these events are just to help make “why” we are here possible.

What we do at Sheridan House works and thousands of children’s lives are permanently changed while here at Sheridan House.

Pastor Jimmy Purchase (on the cover) is just one of many stories of how God changed a life through Sheridan House. Back when Jimmy was a boy living in one of our children’s homes, we watched it work. Today Jimmy is one of the pastors at Crossway Community Church here in Broward County.

Sheridan House works to change lives because we are using biblical principles in our children’s homes, counseling centers, single moms’ ministry and our daily podcast. Thousands of lives have been changed because It Works!

You are a part of that! Your gifts through the special events and monthly giving have been used to change lives. Similar to the boy who gave his lunch to Jesus to help feed the multitudes, your gift is changing the lives of many because of Christ.

It works and we want to thank you for helping to make that possible. More importantly, the thousands of Jimmys of the world “thank you.”

It Works... Sheridan House is a unique ministry in that we are a place where every family can get answers and everyone’s family can help. And help is needed!

In over 45 years of ministry, we have never before seen so many families needing assistance with their children or their marriages. For that reason we are asking everyone who receives this Family Advocate to consider helping us on a monthly basis.

We are not asking you to commit to a specific amount on a monthly basis, but to consider giving each month when you receive this publication.

It will walk you through setting up a monthly donation. You set the parameters and can access and change your confidential giving at any time. Together we can make a difference. Together we can change this culture. By each of us giving a little each month, we can work together and make a huge difference in the life of literally thousands of families.

There are three ways to give monthly:

Jimmy knew the rules of the house and how to follow the rules – he just chose not to! He wanted to live life his way.

During his twelve month stay at Sheridan House the house parents and staff helped him address his problem with authority, taught him how to communicate more effectively and also how to listen. Gradually he learned to relate better to those people in his life trying to help him.

“Most importantly, what God showed me through Sheridan House was my way of doing life was wrong! Through the grace of God and the

answers provided by Sheridan House, I am a life that has been restored,” Jimmy will tell you today.

Fast forward to 2008, Dr. Barnes is about to speak at Oasis Community Church and doesn’t yet recognize the young man leading worship next to him is Jimmy. Seeing Dr. Barnes before getting on the stage to lead music, Jimmy said, “I started thinking about how I have changed and how I have

seen the truth of Jesus Christ. God has given me a new heart!” Jimmy went on to say, “As I left the service, I went to shake hands with Dr. Barnes; he

gave me a hug and said, ‘It is an honor to share the stage with you.’ I thank God everyday for using Sheridan House. I have no doubt that one of the reasons God created Sheridan House was for me.” Jimmy is just one of the thousands of lives changed every year… It works!

years, Erin, have a daughter together.
