March 2011 Monthly Report Program Highlights 5 th grade Battle of the Books teams participated in the school battle. The winning team, Fantastic Five, will now move on to the district competition on April 14 th . Dr. Seuss Day was held on March 2 nd and community members, parents, and fraternity/sorority members came to read Seuss books to all classes. Our Exemplary Media Center Open House was held on March 3 rd and educators from around the state came to learn for the entire day. The media center also sponsored 2 teachers’ attendance at the conference, Mrs. Yawn & Mrs. Rogers. Mr. Plemmons assisted in writing the new vision and mission of the Clarke County School District. Kim James, children’s librarian with the Athens Regional Library, was a guest speaker for the stitching stars storytellers group. March 2011 Monthly Report

Program Highlights

5th grade Battle of the Books teams participated in the school battle. The winning

team, Fantastic Five, will now move on to the district competition on April 14th.

Dr. Seuss Day was held on March 2nd and community members, parents, and

fraternity/sorority members came to read Seuss books to all classes.

Our Exemplary Media Center Open House was held on March 3rd and educators

from around the state came to learn for the entire day. We were also featured in the

Athens Banner Herald.

Multiple collaborative poetry projects were planned for early April

139 students completed our March reading incentive program, Ticket to Read.

The media center poetry contest began.

The spring book fair raised over $1700 for the media center and over $1000 in free

books.
