A Return on Your Investment

Thank you for your support in 2007.

If you have made a donation to Providence House, we are so grateful. We challenge you this year to consider joining the investment club by making a multi-year investment.

Each year, Providence House prepares an economic impact report that tracks our graduate families to determine their ongoing success and how well the program is working.

Since 1993, 241 families have graduated from the Providence House program. We are still in touch with 217 families, which includes 233 adults and 452 children. For those families, the following is verified.

• 195 families or 90% are still living successfully• 213 adults or 91% are working full-time• 26 adults or 11% are in full-time education• 160 families or 74% are in unsubsidized or

regular housing• 174 families or 80% are off public assistance

(AFDC or TANF)• 416 children or 92% are still in school or have

completed high school• 141 families or 65% no longer need food stamps• 208 adults or 89% remain drug-free

Donor Bill of RightsProvidence HouseImagine … a community where no family is homeless.

Providence House always mentions the success rate of families who graduate from the program. But many never get that far. For a variety of reasons, the many families who seek shelter at Providence House’s program for homeless families sometimes do not graduate from the program. Some continue to struggle while others return later or find success on their own.

Tricia Ward and her three boys lived at the shelter more than 10 years ago. She didn’t leave the shelter under the best of circumstances, but she carried the lessons with her. Last month, she earned her RN-Nursing degree—a goal she set for herself in the shelter. It also gave her the confidence to contact Ms. Simone Hennessee and thank the staff for their help. Now, she hopes to volunteer at the Providence House and share her story with folks in a place she knows all too well.

Congratulations Tricia!!!
