For years, outdoor enthusiasts have flocked to SUVs like the Nissan Pathfinder to take them on their next adventure. And why wouldn’t they? SUVs prove to be roomy enough for all your gear, and durable enough to handle the off-the-beaten-path terrain. Nissan has reinvented the Pathfinder, giving it the capabilities of an SUV with the comfort of a sedan.

This award-winning SUV has been completely redesigned. Nissan reworked the aerodynamics, shaved off 500 pounds and included the most advanced engine allowing drivers to go 30% further on one tank of gas. 26 MPG Hwy MileageWe boosted the fuel economy by more than 30%. How? By dropping a bunch of weight from the frame, the drivetrain, and everywhere else. Even the climate control system weighs less now. Then we improved aerodynamics, and gave Pathfinder the Xtronic CVT®, our most advanced transmission ever. It all adds up to a Best in Class Fuel Economy of 26 mpg.

2WD, 4WD OR AUTO MODENo other SUV in this class gives you the choice of 2WD, 4WD, and Auto Modes. Turn the All-Mode 4x4i Dial, located just behind the gearshift, to lock into 4WD on rough terrain and in varying weather. Turn it again to switch into 2WD for better mileage. The intuitive Auto Mode senses slippery roads or rough terrain and automatically adjusts power to each wheel. When things smooth out, it switches back to 2WD.

XTRONIC CVT®What kind of transmission do you put in the Next Gen SUV? The class-exclusive, next-generation Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), obviously. Pathfinder’s new CVT eliminates gears by using a precisely machined metal drive chain instead of traditional fixed metal gears, which transfers power from the engine to the wheels far more effectively and smoothly. So whatever you ask from the engine, the CVT provides it by shifting seamlessly to give you the perfect speed, all while improving fuel economy.

Dual Panorama MoonroofIt’s got room, with a view. The available dual panorama moonroof stretches over all three rows of seats. Whether you’re in the city, on the highway, or cruising through the mountains, everyone has a great view.

Ingenious InteriorThe Nissan EZ Flex™ Seating System seats 7 passengers, and everybody travels in style. Pathfinder boasts Best in Class front headroom and legroom and class-ex-clusive reclining 3rd-row seats are standard. Three rows of rich leather-appointed

seats, a wood-tone trim, and a Tri-Zone entertainment system with three screens are all available options for the ultimate in sophisticated adventure.

EZ Flex™ Seating SystemThe spacious 2nd-row moves forward and backward up to 5½ inches for excellent access to the back row, even with a child seat installed. Speaking of the 3rd-row, it’s been upgraded and expanded for 2013. Pathfinder is the only SUV in its class to offer reclining seats back there, and they’re big enough to comfortably seat two full-sized adults.

Cargo SpaceFill it up with seven passengers, and the Pathfinder still has room for up to 16 cubic feet of cargo. Drop the 3rd-row and you’ve got more than 47 cubic feet, or drop both the 2nd- and 3rd rows and you’ve got a virtually flat space with 79.8 cubic feet of cargo for your seriously big loads. Tire Pressure Monitoring SystemWhen your tire pressure is low, an icon on your dash notifies you. On certain Path-finder trims, the Advanced Drive-Assist™ will tell you which specific tire is low.

Easy-Fill Tire AlertWhen filling your tires, Easy-Fill Tire Alert gives you a friendly beep of the horn when you’re at the right pressure.

Vehicle Dynamic Control Hit a slick spot in a corner and suddenly you may be going in a direction you did not intend to be going. In these situations, VDC monitors steering and braking. If needed, it responds by reducing engine output and/or applying brake pressure to specific wheels.

Anti-lock Braking System In panic-braking situations, the ABS is able to pump the brakes faster than you pos-sibly can, helping to prevent wheel lockup and allowing you to continue to steer while braking heavily.

Brake Assist/Electronic Brake force Distribution If you need to slam on the brakes, Brake Assist detects how hard you’re braking, and if it senses you are in an emergency, it helps to apply maximum braking force. The EBD system is designed to send extra force to the rear brakes when there’s extra weight in the back.

Traction Control System The standard TCS means you won’t be wasting power just spinning the tires. When it senses drive-wheel spin, it responds by reducing throttle or applying brake pres-sure to specific wheels.

The powertrain includes Eco, Normal and Sport driving mode selections, and the optional Dynamic Torque Control AWD system supplies Auto, Lock and Sport driving mode selec-tions. There is plenty of room for four adults and even a dog in the back, never challenging either the RAV4’s seat or legroom.

I had to run to the store to grab a few things needed for this week and that’s when the coveted remote control hatch open was noticed, which brings any SUV’s rating up. When Microsoft needed a vehicle tough enough for its action-hungry Halo 4 fans, it

turned to the Ford SVT Raptor as its basis.Now, Ford has teamed with Galpin Auto Sports

to create a real-world version of the wildly popu-lar video game’s Warthog fighting vehicle.

This one-off, UNSC-themed Ford F-150 SVT Raptor will be the ultimate prize that players can win in the Halo 4 Infinity Challenge online tournament.

Like its cyber version, the real thing is an in-timidating beast complete with the same graph-ics and matching paint of the Warthog.

Under the hood, the team added a Ford Rac-ing supercharger to the 6.2-liter V8. A manifold exhaust system loudly announces that something very special is coming.

The team beefed up the Baja-proven Fox Rac-ing long travel suspension and wrapped 35-inch mud grabber tires around Ford Racing 17-inch beadlock wheels.

Inside, there’s a whole new interior including an Xbox 360 gaming system with multiple monitors to make sure rear-seat passengers get all the action they can handle.

U.S. consumers will have the option of a TDI engine in Audi AG’s next-generation A4 sedan, the automaker said today, expanding a campaign to sell more diesel engines in the United States.

A new version of the A4, Audi’s longtime U.S. best-seller, is set to arrive in 2014. Audi skipped the current sedan in November when it announced plans to offer four more TDI models in the United States.

Speaking to reporters, Audi of America President Scott Keogh said U.S. dealerships will be able to get the A4 with a 2-liter TDI engine after the new gen-eration arrives. As with a recent U.S. diesel push by Audi’s sibling brand, Volkswagen, the decision reflects a strategy to meet rising corporate average fuel economy standards without sacrificing torque.

As Daytona Bike Week continues, Star Motorcycles introduced a new, stripped-down cruiser dubbed Bolt. Offered in basic and better-trimmed R-Spec form, the Bolt has an old-school appearance at a relatively budget price.

With the Bolt, the Yamaha brand is moving deeper into American cruiser territory, and it is doing so at “metric” pricing. For some riders, this may offer an attainable alternative to Harley-Davidson models. (Think Sportster or Street Bob.)

For others, it can provide a fresh option for newer riders looking for an alternative to the small-displacement sport bikes and chrome-plated, midsized import cruisers. (See the Harley-Davidson Breakout also unveiled in Daytona.)

The Bolt uses a new frame, fitted with a fuel-injected, air-cooled 950cc engine. As the photos show, the Bolt is devoid of chrome, relying instead on simple paint and metal surfaces. The body is a slim design, and overall weight is a modest 540 lbs., notably 73 lbs. lighter than the company’s V Star 950 that uses a similar engine. The Bolt has just a 3.2 gallon gas tank, compared to 4.5 gallons for the V Star 950. The seat is low at 27.2 inches.

Curious concessions to modernity, the Bolt uses a digital speedometer and an LED taillamp. Disc brakes are in place front and rear, but ABS is not offered—a disappointment for any new motorcycle design, more especially one that may attract less-experienced riders.

The Bolt will be priced at $7,990 when it goes on sale in April. The Bolt R-Spec follows in July for $8,290 with different shocks, seat stitching, unique colors, and added graphics, essentially providing a mild custom package. Star says its intention is to create a basic canvas that enthusiasts can accessorize from their catalog. While that may allow for an affordable custom, sticking to the basics is where you truly save money.

The ride is what you’ll treasure with the Nissan Pathfinder. If you’ve driven a Pathfinder in the past, you’ll be pleased to learn that the redesigned 2013 model has a lot to offer.

The Nissan Pathfinder was the first SUV my hus-band and I bought after getting married and starting a family. We loved it and now it has been completely

re-designed from front to back. I am in love with the Platinum style.

Gone is the truck like bounce and jiggle. The four-wheel indepen-dent suspension makes this feel much more like a large sedan or minivan, pretty plush.

Inside, the test crossover had black leather seats and a black textured dash with dark wood-like trim on the center stack, console and doors. There was a leather steering wheel and pewter colored

trim around the air vents, console, door handle surrounds and video screen.

The vehicle came with heated front and rear seats, a standard backup camera and power rear hatch, plus the leather seating. Everything was comfortable, the seat being relatively flat, with only minor contouring. The driver’s seat is powered and has two memory settings. The seat also powers back from the tilt/telescope steering wheel once the vehicle is turned off.

Pathfinder is very accommodating for a family up to 7 members. Its interior is spacious, like a minivan, with oodles of head and leg-room in the first two rows of seats, plus a third row is standard and folds easily into the rear floor to boost cargo room.

The Pathfinder has a 3.5-liter V6 that creates 260 horsepower, and links that with its excellent Xtronic CVT. The continuously variable transmission virtually eliminates the feeling of gear shifts, smoothing the crossover’s pulling power and acceleration, and it works beautifully with this engine.
