Box Tops for Education
The PE department is collecting Box Tops for Education. Please turn
them in to your PE/Health teacher.

Ronald McDonald House CharitiesGrissom is once again collecting pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities! The pop tabs are recycled and sold for scrap metal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House
Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana raised more than
$40,000 from this program. A collection box will be in the Commons
for your donations!

Grissom Gives Back
Tickets for the “Grissom Gives Back” fundraising volleyball games are available
now for $3 in the Media Center. The games will be played on Friday, March 16th
at 5:30 pm here at Grissom. Tickets are also available during lunches. Don’t miss
out! All proceeds go to the Kirby Educational Foundation.
March Madness in the Media Center
March Madness has begun! Bring your iPad to the Media Center to choose which books will advance to Week 3. Scan this QR code to place your

Declamation meets Wednesday after
school until 4:05 pm.
Student CouncilStudent Council members will meet
today after school until 4:00 in Room 222.
Jazz BandJazz Band members rehearse every Wednesday from 4:00-5:15 pm at
Prairie View.
Boys Soccer Tryouts
Tryouts will be Tuesday and Thursday at
Millennium until 5:30 pm.
Board Game ClubBoard Game Club will meet today after
school.
Zumba Club
Zumba Club will meet Thursday after school in the Fitness room. Wear
comfortable clothing and gym shoes and bring a
water bottle!
MathletesMathletes will meet Monday and
Wednesday after school until 4:05 pm. Good luck at Thursday’s competition!
Track TryoutsTryouts for Track will be on
Tuesday, March 20th and Wednesday, March 21st from 3:15-4:30 pm for all runners. Shot put
tryouts will be held the week after Spring Break on Thursday, April 5th.
Permission forms are in the rack outside the Main Office. See Mr.
Rumbaugh, Mrs. Ryan, Ms. Jordan or Ms. Senkpeil if you have any
questions.
Chess ClubChess Club meets Wednesday after school in the Pre-Engineering room.
Hot LunchTomorrow is Hot Lunch! Remember to
thank the parents serving you! Without them, there would be no Hot Lunch
program.
Soccer TryoutsTryouts for girls soccer will be held today and
Wednesday, March 14th at Millennium. Students trying out will be bussed to Millennium, but you must get your own
transportation home. Tryouts will be over at 5:30.

8th Grade Boys BasketballCongratulations to the Patriots on winning the SWIC TOURNAMENT
CHAMPIONSHIP!! The boys defeated Palos South 45-43 to win the tournament. Elijah Laws was selected for the All-Conference team and was voted tournament MVP. Grissom is so proud of the
team’s hard work this year!
Crayola ColorCycleStudents and teachers will soon be collecting used
markers (any brand!) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook
meals and more! Boxes will be located in the Commons. The Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic
out of landfills each year! Remember, don’t throw out that used marker – ColorCycle it!

Student ID’s When attending after-school activities such as games and dances, you
must have your Grissom ID with you! You will not be admitted without it!

Shamrock ShuffleFriday is the GMS Shamrock Shuffle in PE classes. Dress up and have some fun
while running!
Student SupportBefore and after school
Student Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each
morning, and from 3:10-4:05 pm Monday through Thursday.
You must arrive at the beginning of the session and
stay for the whole time!

Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge
Last year Grissom Patriots saved over 6,600 plastic water bottles from ending up in landfills by using the
water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Please
remember to use these instead of plastic bottles. So far this year, we’ve
saved 7,347 bottles from landfills!
