Tsunami – Japan

Japan was hit by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake on March 11, 2011, that triggered a deadly tsunami in the country's north.

Tsunami Debris is adding to the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch”…An estimated 1.5 Million Tons has reached the US West Coast thus far.

•1780 reports were received to date (July 2014)•1235 reports from land•Approximately 175 reports from vessels to-date (July 2014) not including Japanese training vessels
