MARC-3059 Title: Standy problem using DDM in Marc Product: Marc

Siebel CR: Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): In a DDM analysis using an adaptive load stepping the job could in some cases hang indefinitely without progress. This would only happen if tables were used for the load time history, and different tables were active in different domains. Only the multiple input file option was affected (domain decomposition in Mentat).

MARC-3057 Title: Convergence instability using Auricchio's material model in Marc Product: Marc

Siebel CR: Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): The Auricchio Shape Memory Alloy model could suffer from bad convergence when temperature changes are present. A temperature gradient term was missing in the implementation leading to poor convergence.

Siebel CR: Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): An analysis using the weld flux option with DDM in single input file mode could in some cases stop with an error even though the corresponding serial run would run correctly.

MARC-3036 Title: orientation option with element 22 goes wrong Product: Marc

Siebel CR: Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): The material orientation option to use a coordinate system sometimes produces inaccurate results. The material system was not exactly normalized, which in some cases could produce wrong results.

Siebel CR:

Page 5: Marc 2011 Closed Defects

Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): Certain combinations of elements and materials would not work correctly. For instance a linear elastic material and a Mooney rubber material for different parts in an analysis would cause the wrong stress measures to be used. Now there is a new automatic option to tell the code to select the best options for all combinations of elements and materials. In Mentat this is now the default for new models. In the Marc input this is flagged with the option LARGE STRA,4.

Siebel CR: Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): For coupled magnetostatic-structural analyses when the Lorentz force is computed with the virtual work method the minimum element edge length of elements inside body onto which the force is computed was used to compute the delta displacement. Now the minimum element edge length in the entire model is used. This will prevent elements from going inside out. The default for the delta displacement is changed to 0.01 of the smallest edge length and the default for the number of extra layers to be displaced is changed to 0.

Siebel CR: 1-285939129

Page 41: Marc 2011 Closed Defects

Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): The number of layers of a shell element with regular material should be odd due to the integration procedure (Simpson's rule). This is automatically enforced in the code, but was accidentally also done for composite materials. The extra layer usually did no harm, but for progressive failure analysis with element deactivation it had the effect that elements were never deactivated if the number of layers were even. Elements are deactivated when all layers have failed, but the erroneous extra layer would never fail since it was not active.

MARC-1313 Title: Incorrect post file for magneto/struct job with Maxwell Stress Tensor Lorentz Force calculation Product: Marc

Siebel CR: 1-286654571 Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): In a coupled magnetostatic-structural analysis the Lorentz force was only written to the postfile when the Maxwell Stress Tensor method was used. Since this method is chosen in a loadcase the postfile did not contain this force in increment zero. Also when for some loadcases the Virtual Work Method method was used the vector would be missing for these loadcase increments. Now the vector is always written when requested irrespective of the method being used. By default, however, this vector is not written, since only the summation of this force over a body has a physical meaning.

Siebel CR: 1-286858483 Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ):

Page 44: Marc 2011 Closed Defects

In a parallel DDM analysis using the Multifrontal Sparse Direct Solver (solver 8) results could deviate from the results obtained for the same job in a serial run. The deviations can be reduced by using a tighter tolerance on the SOLVER input (e.g. 1.0E-6). On platforms where the Pardiso (solver 11) or the MUMPS (solver 12) solver are available it is recommended to use to these solvers instead. They often are faster than solver 8 and don't show the deviations when comparing results from parallel and serial runs.

MARC-1299 Title: CPU time of Pardiso matrix solver not reported correctly for DDM Product: Marc

Siebel CR: 1-287082246 Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): The CPU time of the Pardiso matrix solver would not be reported correctly in a parllel DDM analysis.

Siebel CR: 1-48687621 Fixed in Release: Marc - 2011 Description ( External ): There were problems with numerics and symbol plots in Mentat in combination with isolate elements and post files on which the mesh would change (due to remeshing, element activation/deactivation, etc). If an element set or a contact body would be isolated in a particular increment and the user would skip to another increment with a different mesh, then the elements of the new mesh in that set or body remained isolated, but Mentat would display the non-isolated values of element quantities (usually all zeros) for the nodes of these elements.
