DA-Desk is the largest independent provider of global port cost management services.The company processes over 150,000 port calls per annum on behalf of its 260-plus customers.It has built the scale, systems, processes, tools, network and strong relationships with its customers and their agents, thus enabling the Group to provide its customers substantial savings. DA-Desk’s customers approve some USD 6 billion per annum of port call-related costs via the online DA-Desk application (called the “DA-Desk System”) and about USD 4.1 billion of agent payments are processed through its PortPayables® service, a cross-border payment platform designed for shipping operators who use the application. This cash management service is delivered in conjunction with DA-Desk’s banking partner, Citigroup, which recognized DA-Desk with an Excellence Award for its Multi-Currency Payables Processing.

PortsDirect delivers structured procurement of discounted service rate agreements with port services providers (such as towage companies) and the subsequent provision of those agreements to vessel operating companies. Today, PortsDirect has towage contracts in 29 countries and 330 ports with $500 million customer spend annually on towage.

These contracts are being re-negotiated annually and more ports are being added. Vessel operating companies benefit because of the service rate discounts, wide contract coverage, and minimization of contract management tasks, cash flow optimization and systems integration with DA-Desk which ensures proper nomination of suppliers at agency appointment.

PortPoint provides a wealth of information to shipping operators, including a database of port cost information and analytical tools which bring significant value to ship operators and other maritime industry participants such as port agents, charterers and brokers.

Through a partnership with DA-Desk which owns probably the largest, most up-to-date and robust agency database, it is also able to provide PortPages, an agency directory of about 10,000 agents which are subjected to the DA-Desk’s proprietary sanctions compliance monitoring system powered by Dow Jones Sanction Alert. The PortPoint platform which was upgraded to next generation services was launched in May 2015.

Laytime-Desk provides laytime management with its confidential, structured and secure workflows. The service has been developed in close cooperation with some of the world’s largest tank and dry bulk customers, to support their existing laytime management setup. The service includes the administrative workflow of collecting and qualifying correct documents, calculation of laytime and submission of documents before the expiry of time bars. Manifest-Desk provides a solution to reduce sanctions-related risks with customized and semi-automated deep dive of manifest and pre-booking data to detect and address the pitfalls which continue to elude automated screenings. The service is offered to, among others, liner companies, trading departments and insurance companies. Manifest-Desk has developed the first-ever cargo data screening application which is available as an online tool as well as an API for integration into sanctions-screening solutions.
