    Kilat and guests.

    :hat Leon Kilat did not 0now was that one of the $en! ,lorencio 3oel! had $et the Spanish friar! ,ather ,rancisco 1lanco. ,ather

    1lanco had reportedly told 3oel that the only way Carcar would escape Spanish retaliation was if Leon Kilat would be 0illed.

    So! on the night of *oly Thursday! goat! chic0en! por0 were served to the $en at the 1arcenilla *ouse! and afterwards! the $en dran0

    coffee and +inebra 2gin4 in the living roo$. eanti$e! the Carcar $en who had decided to do away with Leon Kilat! beca$e ill atease! and they whispered a$ong one another! and in fact! %polinario %lcuitas shouted in Cebuano! ;1rothers! " a$ infor$ing all of

    you that tonight! " will slaughter a horse.;

    %ll of this apparently went unnoticed by Leon Kilat! or perhaps he had too $uch +inebra! because he didn8t flee. *e went to bed! inthe roo$ near the stairs of the 1arcenilla *ouse. Vicente 1arcenilla chatted with Leon Kilat in his roo$< he goes down in history asthe last person to have seen hi$ alive.

    Then so$eti$e during the night! several $en entered Leon Kilat8s roo$. 5ne of the$ used Kilat8s own rifle butt to s$ash his s0ull.

    %nd then the $en stabbed Kilat. "t was a collective deed! but %polinario %lcuitas8 na$e goes down in history as the assassin.

    %fter insuring Leon Kilat was dead! the group brought his corpse to the center of town to display it. "t was = a.$. +ood ,riday! %pril

    )! '()(.%n earlier battle with the Spaniards was successful and the Spaniards had to retreat to ,ort San Pedro. 1ut the Spaniards 9uic0ly

    dispatched a ship to Cebu. :hen the revolutionaries heard about the Spanish ship! they retreated to Carcar.
