Handsome and Affectionate!!!

Ranger is a two-year-old black and white Siberian that came into MaPaw as

a stray in January. He quickly became a very popular pup with dogs and humans alike in the rescue. He is very affectionate and loves to play.

Ranger was adopted out briefly, however, we soon learned that he needed

to be in a home with other active dogs for companionship. He was a good boy, and his new family loved him, but he was just too sad being an only

dog. The family wanted what was best for Ranger, so they returned him to

find a home with canine playmates where he would be happy.

Ranger is trustworthy in the home (by husky standards) and after a good hearty romp session with the dogs, he likes to curl up and spend quality

time with his folks. He does crave attention and will be best in a home not only with other dogs, but a lot of people contact as well.

Prince!!!Prince!!!Prince!!!Prince!!!

Prince 29 April 2010

Cherished Best Mate

Loved & Adored 1.11.2004 ~ 30.4.2010

Prince was an extremely enthusiastic boy, full of life. He was the heart of

our family. At the age of four years eleven months he was diagnosed with Chorioretinitis caused by Post-Inflammatory Retinal Degeneration. It was a

shock to everyone to find out he was almost blind.....he had us completely fooled! One month later at the age of five, he was diagnosed with in-

operable Fibrosarcoma. He was a brave boy and battled cancer and his treatments like a real trooper. We were given just under six wonderful

months with him after the diagnosis. On 30 April 2010 we had to say goodbye to our dear boy, it was the hardest thing we have ever had to do

but we knew it was the right thing to do for him, one final gift of love.

Prince has left behind a very important part of him ~ his five beautiful

puppies ~ Aneshia, Meisha, Kodiak, Qannik and Zeus. He will forever live on through them.

Run free sweet Prince, you are free of all pain and can see and run again.

We know you will always be watching over us and waiting for the day we will join you so we can travel together north of the Rainbow Bridge. Words

cannot describe how much we love and miss you, your paw prints are forever imprinted on our hearts.

You so earned your silver harness my main man ~ Love Mom

Canine Good Citizen And Canine Good Citizen And Canine Good Citizen And Canine Good Citizen And Therapy DogTherapy DogTherapy DogTherapy Dog

As most of you know, Biloxi came into MaPaw SHR in the summer of 2008

from Mississippi. Within the first few months of his life, he was tragically hit by a vehicle and suffered a broken leg and shattered pelvis. MaPaw found

Biloxi at a shelter and had him transported to Pa. with his new foster dad so he could find a new "furever" home.

At that time, I had just lost two of my beloved Sibes at the ages of 15 1/2

and 15 years of age. My husband, Dennis, asked me when was I ready to start looking for another red and white male husky.

I came across Biloxi's picture on MaPaw's website and instantly fell in love

with him. It was something about those ears and the way he crooked his paw in the pic. I knew he was going to be a very special boy after I read

about his circumstances.

My husband and I adopted Biloxi in September 2008. I took him to various

events, including SSD Pawsabilities in Harrisburg. Biloxi was letting everyone pet him and talk to him. He was especially good with the people in

wheelchairs. That's when I had a thought. Even though Biloxi couldn't be a

Service Dog, he could become a Therapy Dog. So I researched on what we had to do.

During this time, we had a little setback. Biloxi had to have surgery on his

hip in April 2009. He started to have problems walking and so he had to

endure this procedure. He had to re-learn how to walk on his leg again and strengthen the leg muscles because the femur head was removed and the

leg was no longer attached in the hip socket.

In October 2009, Biloxi and I enrolled in Clicker Training class for a few weeks. He graduated from his session and earned a certificate. I kept

working with Biloxi.

In March 2010, we went back to Pawsabilities and had him tested for CGC (Canine Good Citizen) and TDI (Therapy Dog). Needless to say, we failed

the first time. I put Biloxi in a "Down, Stay", walked a few feet away, and called him to "Come". He went into "Sibe Mode". He just stayed and looked

at me like "What?? You just stuck me here and now you want me to come? Nope." So close. It was the last part of the test.

Needless to say, we had more work to do. Then, I found another testing site in Allentown in early May. Off we go. This time, Biloxi passed. I was so

proud of him. He was treated to a McDonald's hamburger and ice cream sundae on the way home.

Biloxi is now a Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog. We look forward to

visiting nursing homes, hospitals, libraries and schools.

He truly is My Very Special Boy.

Thank you MaPaw! Diane P

We had a great time sweating off weight at this year’s Quakertown Pet Fair.

The weather was hot and muggy, but storms held off for the day.

The always exuberant group of members and volunteers: Kathy W, Bernie, Aaron, Dagmar, yours truly, Linda and Pat manned the awesome MaPaw

booth full of stuffies, smelly pencils, dog toting bags, and flying shirts.

Little wild man Rudy charmed everyone. He took over the wading pools and

had a great time splashing around and biting the water. He even took time to wee in one. How nice of him to fill it up! Little man Falcor took things in

his stride. He sure knows who to beg to…..he got some meatballs from Kathy W☺. Deacon was a great guy and did really well with young children.

Dagmar, the great foster Mom that she is, would take Deacon on rides in

the vans that were transporting people to/from the parking areas, just so he could get some A/C. Linda and Pat, as always, were very helpful. They

even helped a person about training with the invisible fence system. What can I say about Kathy W, Bernie and Aaron except, you guys are great! We

even had Sue H come by with a donation painting and a MaPaw alum, Kia. Towards the end of the day little Rudy got to play with his bro Zeus. They

had a great time and Rudy even had fun showing Zeus the pools and

dunking him under the water!

It was a great day and thanks to all of you who came to help out.
