1.Students should have an idea on cardinal directions.
2. It needs sufficient practices. 3. Use of colour and symbols should be appropriate 4. Making an index at the bottom of the map. 5. It should be neatly labeled.

Maps are classified on the basis of Scale :
1.Small scale maps. 2. Large scale maps.
THEMATIC MAPS Some maps represent a particular theme or features known as thematic map. 1. Political maps show cities,towns,states and
countries of the world. 3. Cultural maps show the man made features
like distribution of crops,minerals,transport etc.
4. Historical maps show the historical places and monuments .
