PRELIMINARY OPERATIONWarningWARNING: Before the following operations, disconnect theunit from the power supply. The main switch must be in theOFF position. Please check with a voltmeter on each phasein order to be sure of the absence of voltage. Apply a labelto the unit if required by the safety procedure of the coun-try.

: Cables Section: Check the section of the power supplycables and verify that they are correct (insulation andsize) for the nominal current of the unit (check therating in the Aermec Technical Manual section electri-cal data.).

: Ground connection (Earthing): Check the connectionto the ground and test it. (see the Aermec TechnicalManual).

The following operations must be done when the unit iselectrically fed.

: Feed the unit electrically turning ON on the generalswitch. The display will run for few seconds after elec-trical feeding; running conditions must be on OFF (OFFBY KEYB on display lower side).

: Field-test that feeding voltage value is 400V±10% atRST phases, then check that unbalance between phasesis below 3%.

: Check the installer makes connections complying withAermec documentation enclosed to the unit.

: Check that crankcase heater compressors are running, measuring an increase in oil sump temperature.Heater/s must work for 12 hours at least, before com-pressor start-up, and in any case oil sump temperaturemust be 10-15°C higher than the environment tempera-ture.

HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT: Hydraulic connections: Check all the hydraulic connec-

tions and verify their correctness. Filter: Check a mechanical filter is installed at the entryof the evaporator. (compulsory accessory; if the mecha-nical filter is not installed any warranty is immediatelyvoided by Aermec.

: Hydraulic circuit: The hydraulic circuit must be filledwith water (glycol if necessary) and it should have theright pressure. Vent all the air in the circuit.

: Valves: Verify that all the valves in the hydraulic circuitare open.

: Pump/s: Check and verify the functioning of the waterpump. It must be in operation. Verify that there is enou-gh water flow to close the contact of the flow switch.

: Water flow: Check and verify the water flow by measu-ring the pressure difference between water in and waterout of the evaporator. In order to calculate the waterflow please refer to the pressure drop of the evaporatorand use the table / chart in the Aermec technicalmanual to determine the water flow.

: Flow Switch: Check and verify the correct functioning ofthe flow switch. Closing the water valve of the hydrauliccircuit slowly, you should cause an Alarm that will be

MESSA IN FUNZIONE: Dopo aver scrupolosamente eseguito tutti i controlli

sopraesposti è possibile mettere in funzione l'unità pre-mendo il tasto ON.

DISPOSITIVO DI CONTROLLO E SICUREZZA: Generale

shown on the unit display. Once this check has beendone please open the valve again and reset the alarm.

START UP: Start up the unit: Once all the above checks have been

done it is possible to start up the unit pressing the ONbutton. Set Points: Check all the set points of the unitand verify that they are within the operating limits of theunit. Reset any possible alarms. After some minutes theunit will start.

: Phase rotation: Check the phase rotation. If the rotationis not correct disconnect the main switch from thepower supply and change over two phases of the inco-ming triple main supply to reverse motor rotation. Donot alter the internal wiring of the unit otherwise thewarranty will terminate with immediate effect.

: Input current: Check the fans and compressor inputcurrent and verify it with the technical data.

REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT: Leaks: Check and verify that there are no refrigerant

leaks by using a leak detector. In particular you mustcheck all the pressure plugs (manometers, transducers, pressure switches); The vibration during transportcould have caused plugs to loosen. Oil Level: Check and verify that after a few hours ofoperation of the unit, the oil level of the compressor iscorrect.

: Refrigerant circuit: Check and verify after a few hours of opera-tion of the unit, that there are no vapour bubbles at the sightglass. If there are a lot of bubbles you must charge refrigerant oradjust the thermostatic valve. If there are a few bubbles the unitcould operate but after the approval of the Aermec technicalservice, nevertheless the presence of bubbles for a short periodis possible.

: SuperheatSuperheatCheck and verify that the refrigerant superheat isbetween 4 and 8°C. This operation to be done compa-ring the temperature measured with a contact thermo-meter located on the compressor suction, with the tem-perature shown in the manometer (if not present on theunit you need to install one for the check) set on thesuction side (the saturated temperature correspondingto the suction pressure). The difference between thetwo values gives the superheat value).

: SubcoolingSubcoolingCheck and verify that the refrigerant subcooling isbetween 4 and 6°C. This operation can be done com-paring the temperature measured with a contact ther-mometer located on the outlet pipe of condenser, withthe temperature shown in the manometer (if not pre-sent on the unit you need to install one for the check)set on the outlet of the condenser (saturated temperatu-re corresponding to the condenser outlet pressure). Thedifference between the two values gives the subcoolingvalue).

: Discharge TemperatureDischarge TemperatureCheck the Discharge Temperature of the compressor. Ifthe subcooling and the superheat values are correct thetemperature measured at the discharge line of the com-pressor must be 30 to 40°C above the condensing tem-perature.

SAFETY AND CONTROL DEVICES: General:

The unit is set and tested in the factory before delivery. It is,however, advisable to check all these devices after a reaso-nable period of working time. All maintenance and serviceoperations must be carried out by qualified persons.Incorrect setting values of the safety devices could causeserious damage of the unit.

: High pressure switch

Check and verify that the high pressure switch is working. This device must stop the unit, generating the appropriateAlarm, once the discharge pressure exceeds the setting value. In order to check the correct operation, stop the condenserair flow (in cooling mode) and verify with the manometerthe pressure that the unit stops. WARNING: in case thevalue measured exceeds the setting value given by AermecSTOP THE COMPRESSOR IMMEDIATELY, and verify thereasons. The reset of this device is manual and it can bereactivated once the pressure value drops by the differentialvalue. In order to check the setting and the differential valuerefer to the Aermec technical manual.

: Low pressure switch

Check and verify that the low pressure switch is working. This device stops the unit, generating the appropriate Alarm, once the suction pressure drops below the set value. In orderto check the correct operation, after about 5 minutes withthe compressor in operation, close the liquid line slowly (incooling mode) and verify with the manometer the pressurewhen the unit stops. The reset of this device is manual and itcan be reactivated once the pressure value drops by the dif-ferential value. In order to check the setting and the differen-tial value refer to the Aermec technical manual.

: Antifreeze system

Check the antifreeze system. The antifreeze control is mana-ged by the electronic control board with the water outletsensor in order to prevent the water freezing if the water flowtemperature is too low. To check the correct operation ofthis control, increase the set point gradually in the electronicboard parameters until the value is equal to the water outtemperature constantly measured with a high quality contactthermometer, and verify that the unit stops. The appropriateAlarm will appear on the unit display. After this check RESETTHE ANTIFREEZE ORIGINAL VALUE.

REGOLAZIONE ELETTRONICA • ELECTRONIC REGULATION

Electronic regulation on the RV machines takes the form of apCOpCO22 control board for each compressor and a display ter-minal for each machine. The control boards (in the multi-compressor machines) and the terminal are interconnectedin a PLAN network. In the multicompressor machines theboard that controls compressor No. 1 is the master board, while the others are slaves. Each board, both master andslave type, has transducers, loads and alarms relative to thecompressor it controls connected, whereas the master boardonly has those generated by the machine connected. Themaster board therefore controls the main machine functionssuch as work thermostat, total recovery thermostat, rotationof the compressors and general alarms. Each board is identified by an address for communication inthe pLAN and this also determines the board type (masterboard address 1, display terminal board address 5.)

All these controls feature:• PLAN serial connection (485)• Presetting for connection to a supervisor via 485 through

an accessory board.• Clock with lithium battery• Plastic container• 24Vdc/Vac power supply• 14 digital inputs• 18 digital outputs• 10 analog inputs• 6 analog outputs

The pCOpCO22 board has the following characteristics:

: the pCOpCO22 control, fitted with a 16-bit microprocessorfor running the regulation program, and the set of termi-nals required for connection to the controlled devices(for example: valves, compressors, fans). The program and the set parameters are saved perma-nently in FLASH memory, preventing data loss in theevent of power failure (without requiring a back-up bat-tery). The pCOpCO 22 also allows connection to a localpLAN network made up of a series of pCOpCO22 and termi-nals.

: the terminal, also managed by microprocessor, fittedwith display, keypad and LEDs to allow the programming ofthe control parameters (Set Point, differential band, alarmthresholds) and fundamentaloperation by the user(ON/OFF, display of the controlled values).

The power of the application software means that the userterminal allows:

• the display and acoustic signalling (buzzer) of the alarmsdetected;

• the display of the active functions, using the LEDs;• the display of all the quantities measured.

CONNESSIONE ELETTRICHE pLAN pLAN ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

As already mentioned, the pCOpCO22 controls can be connectedto pLAN local network, allowing the communication of dataand information from one location (node) to another.

Each pCOpCO22 can be connected to a supervisory network, using the optional AER485P2 cards.

The pCOpCO22 terminals can monitor the control variables (tem-perature, humidity, pressure, I/O, alarms) from one or moreboards. If one or more terminals are disconnected or mal-functioning, the control program continues to function cor-

rectly on each pCOpCO22 main board.Generally, the application program can monitor the status ofthe network and intervene as a consequence to ensure thecontinuity of the control functions. The figure, shows the network connection diagram.

Poiché i

All the devices connected to the pLAN network are identi-fied using their own individual address. If the same addressis assigned to more than one unit the network will not work.

As the terminals and the pCOpCO22 I/O boards use the same

type of address, terminals and pCOpCO22 boards can not havethe same identifier. The addresses are set for the terminals using the dip-swit-

ches on the rear, and on the pCOpCO22 boards using the dip-switches located near the telephone connector.

TERMINALI PRIVATI E CONDIVISI PRIVATE / SHARED TERMINALS

• Each pCOpCO22 board, connected in the network, can mana-ge various terminals (max 3). Display on the latter takesplace simultaneously and non independently, it is likehaving keyboards and displays connected in parallel.

• Each terminal associated with a given board may be priva-te or shared.

• A terminal is considered to be private if it displays exclusi-vely the output of a single I/O boards.

• A terminal is considered to be shared if, either automati-cally or through the keyboard, it can be switched overbetween various control boards.

• Each pCOpCO22 maintains the display of private terminals con-stantly updated; on the other hand if there is a shared ter-minal, the latter will be updated only if the pCOpCO22 in que-stion currently has control of it. From the logical view-point, the following diagram is applicable:

• In this example, the shared terminal is associated with 4 I/Oboards but at the moment only number 2 can display dataand receive keyboard commands from it. Switchingbetween the boards occurs in cyclical succession(1➙2➙3➙4➙1....), by pressing the button (or combina-tion of two buttons) that this function has been assigned to.

• Switching can also take .

The number and type of terminals is established during theinitial network configuration stage. The relative data is sto-red in the memory of each single I/O board.

Terminal configuration procedure• The first thing to be done, when starting a pLAN network

for the first time or when replacing an I/O board, is toactivate the terminal configuration procedure.

• Before starting this procedure, it is a good idea to makesure that each I/O board and each terminal have been"given" the right address, i.e. the one assigned in thenetwork design stage. It is important to remember that anaddress set through the DIP-switches is taken into consi-deration only if the device is reset. Furthermore, it is also agood idea to perform a global reset of all the networkeddevices if you notice that addresses have been configuredincorrectly (several boards with the same address).

• The configuration procedure must be activated for eachI/O board and must involve all the terminals in thenetwork. The procedure can be activated from any termi-nal, even one that has only been connected temporarilyfor the purposes of the configuration operations andremoved when these have been finished.

For an optimal regulation this parameter must not be lowerthan Delta temperature between inlet and outlet waterwhen the machine is full-powered working (5.0°C).Especially for OUTLET and PI regulations, it is recommen-ded band value equal to Delta temperature between inletand outlet water at full power conditions plus 30% ( that isDelta x 1.3 ).
