A Using the Operator Panel of a Diebold Opteva

ATM

Opteva rear-service models include a rear display panel which provides status information and facilitates diagnostic and maintenance operations (referred to as the “Rear Operator Panel” or ROP). The system keyboard (available inside the ATM cabinet) is used in conjunction with the ROP for performing operator functions.

On Opteva front-service models, which have no separate display panel, the customer display is used for operator functions. To activate the Onscreen Operator Panel (OOP), follow these steps:

1. Insert the key and unlock and pull open the front fascia of the ATM. The lock is located on the upper left fascia panel.

2. Find the mode rocker switch, located behind the fascia at the top right of the enclosure. Hold down the mode switch for about 2 seconds to activate the OOP on the ATM’s main display. Holding down the mode switch again returns the main display to the Hello screen (or the Out-of-Service screen if the ATM is not in Up state).

3. The Touch Screen is used for operator input and the system keyboard is not needed for most operations.

4. For security reasons, if the front fascia of the ATM is closed while the OOP is still activated, the command buttons are disabled.

NOTE All the instructions in this appendix apply to both the ROP and OOP because they are functionally equivalent. Keep in mind that there are some minor differences in the way that the operator interacts with these applications due to the differing input methods. Significant differences are noted where applicable.

G.1 ROP and OOP Layout

The top line of the operator panel display is the Overall State Description, and is an abbreviated text description describing the current state of the ATM.

The second and third lines of the operator panel display the Expanded State Description and are a more detailed description of the current state of the ATM.

The next eight lines of the operator panel are reserved for any specific device errors or warnings. This area remains blank if there are no outstanding errors or warnings.

The bottom line of the operator panel displays the Citibank logo on the left and the node ID on the right.

G.2 ROP and OOP Commands

The following commands are available from both the ROP and the OOP:

Shutdown

Reboot

Diagnostics

Front Logon

Calibrate Touch Screen

When a command is selected, a confirmation window is displayed. Select the Confirm button (the Y key for the ROP) to confirm the selection or the Cancel button (the N key for the ROP) to cancel the selection. If this confirmation is not responded to within the 20 seconds, the confirmation window is removed without any action.

G.2.1 Shutdown

Purpose:

Provides the operator a way to properly shut down the ATM so that it can be powered off for hardware maintenance or replacement.

Procedure:

Select Shutdown from the command list and confirm it. If a customer is not in session at the time of the request, the front screen of the ATM will go to the Out-Of-Service screen and the ROP will look like the following example screen:

After the system successfully shuts down the Global CAT ATM and the Windows XP operating system (approximately 45-55 seconds), the front screen will go blank. On rear-service systems, the ROP will also go blank. The system’s processing engine will power off automatically. It is then safe to power off the ATM’s peripheral devices.

G.2.2 Reboot

Purpose:

Provides the operator a way to properly reboot the ATM.

Procedure:

Select Reboot from the command list and confirm it. If a customer is not in session at the time of the request, the front screen of the ATM will go to the Out-Of-Service screen and the ROP will look like this:

The front screen of the ATM will eventually show that the system is rebooting and the Windows XP operating system shutting down and then booting up. Eventually, the ROP will display the Out-Of-Service screen for a few minutes until the Global CAT software starts loading.

G.2.3 Diagnostics

Purpose:

Provides the operator a way to start the Diebold Opteva diagnostic application.

Procedure:

Select Diagnostics from the command list and confirm it. If a customer is not in session at the time of the request, the front screen of the ATM will go to the Out-Of-Service screen and the ROP will look like the following example screen:

When the Diagnostics application is loaded, the application can be operated from Rear-service models at the small rear monitor or from the ATM’s front screen on Front-service models. On Rear-service models, the front display will show the Out-Of-Service screen while Diagnostics is active.

After the Diagnostics application is exited, the ROP will display the appropriate ATM state. See the Diebold vendor’s platform documentation for more information on diagnostic procedures.

G.2.4 Front Logon

Purpose:

Provides the operator a way to start the Local Operator Interface.

Procedure:

Select Front Logon from the command list and confirm it. If a customer is not in session at the time of the request, the front screen of the ATM will go to the Out-Of-Service screen and the ROP will look like the following example screen:

There is a 20-second delay on rear-service systems before the ATM displays the Front OI logon screen on the ATM front display screen. When it finally is displayed, the ROP will look like the following example screen:

On front-service systems, the Out-Of-Service screen will cover the OOP and soon be followed by the Local OI login screen. Upon exit of Local OI, the OOP will again be visible and display the appropriate ATM state.

After the operator has successfully logged on to Front OI, the ROP looks like the following example screen:

If the ATM rejects the command request, one of several possible messages is displayed, indicating the cause of the failed request. Possible causes for failure are:

FrontOI Command failed - ATM is wrong state.

FrontOI Command failed.

FrontOI Command failed - Remote OI already active.

FrontOI Command failed - already active.

FrontOI Command failed - Customer session init.

G.2.5 Touch Screen Calibration

Purpose:

Provides the operator a way to start the Diebold Opteva Touch Screen calibration application.

Procedure:

Select Calibrate Touch Screen from the command list and confirm it. If a customer is not in session at the time of the request, the front screen of the ATM will go to the Out-Of-Service screen and the ROP will look like the following example screen:

When the Touch Screen calibration application is loaded, the application can be operated from the ATM’s front screen on both front- and rear-service models. At this point, the ROP will look like the following example screen:

After the Touch Screen calibration is performed, the application exits automatically and the TSCALIBRATE display will automatically return back to the appropriate ATM state. See the Diebold vendor’s platform documentation for more information on calibration of the Touch Screen.

Each display state is designed to give an accurate representation of the ATM state at any point in time. This section describes each state in detail and is organized as follows:

G.3.1 Global CAT Initialization

This mode is displayed when all Global CAT components have been initialized but are still preparing for operation. No commands are available in this state.

G.3.2 Out-Of-Service

This state is displayed under the following conditions:

Card Reader DOWN (x = 1)

PIN Encryptor DOWN (x = 2)

Host Connection DOWN (x = 4)

SIU DOWN (x = 8)

If the <Overall state description> is displayed as “OOS” instead of “OxS”, the Out-Of-Service state is temporary and will transition to another state shortly. All commands are available in the Out-Of-Service state.

G.3.3 Start

This mode is displayed when a Start command has been issued to a Global CAT ATM after it has been in a STOPPED state. It is a transitional state and should not take more than 30 seconds or so to get to the Out-Of-Service state. The Start command is issued only from the Operator Interface (Local or Remote) and the INC. No commands are available in this state.

G.3.4 Stopping

This mode is displayed when a Stop, Shutdown, or Reboot command has been issued to a Global CAT ATM. It is a transitional state and should not take more than 30 seconds or so to get to the Stopped state. No commands are available in this state.

G.3.5 Stopped

This mode is displayed when the ATM has finished stopping after a Stop command has been issued to a Global CAT ATM. The ATM will remain in the Stopped state until it is either Started, Shutdown, or Rebooted. All commands are functional in this state.

G.3.6 Back Admin Active

This mode is displayed when Back Admin is currently active on a Remote OI terminal. No commands are available in this state.

G.3.7 Idle

This mode is displayed when the ATM is at the Hello screen. This is the normal state of the ATM when no customer session is active. All commands are available in this state.

The Diebold Opteva ATM defines Device Warning information that must be communicated to the operations and maintenance personnel for proper and efficient ATM operation. These warnings are described in the Status Code for the IDLE, BUSY, and OOS states.

The Device Warnings are represented in the I0nn (IDLE state), B0nn (BUSY state), and O0nn (OOS state) Status Code display fields, where nn represents two hexadecimal values as defined in Table 17.

Combining the bits of each condition results in hexadecimal digits, which represent up to four device warning conditions. So, for the first hexadecimal digit, if all possible values are combined, the results are:

For example, a status display of I083 translates into: the ATM is idle, the CDM is down, the depositor bin is full, and the printer paper is low.

G.3.8 Busy

This mode is displayed when customer session is running on the ATM. All commands are available in this state.

G.3.9 Safe Door Open

This mode is displayed when the safe door is opened, when the ATM would otherwise be at an IDLE state. This causes the Hello screen to be removed and the Out-Of-Service screen to be displayed on the front of the ATM. All commands are available in this state.

G.4 Resetting the Diebold Opteva Cash Dispenser (AFD) Communication

If the CDM device is down after installation and configuration have been performed, the Advanced Function Dispenser (AFD) Communication may need to be reset.

Under certain conditions, the Diebold Cash Dispenser device (AFD) requires a manual communications reset. A USB communication security feature in the terminal processor software prevents unauthorized computers from commanding the AFD to operate.

If any of the following occur, the AFD communication must be reset:

AFD control CCA has changed

Hard disk drive and the motherboard have changed

AFD firmware has been updated by the GCAT software installation

G.4.1 Determining Advanced Function Dispenser Communication Status

Start the Opteva Diagnostics application from the ATM’s operator panel. On rear-load systems, this is available on the ATM’s Rear Operator Panel (ROP). On front-load systems, the Onscreen Operator Panel (OOP) can be activated using the white operator switch behind the front fascia. Refer Appendix G.1 for details on this function.

From the Diagnostics screen’s Terminal Status list, select the “Dispenser” module and check if an entry exists for “Security result” in the Component list:

If the status indicates that there is a security warning, then the Dispenser communications must be updated (Section G.4.2). This condition does not cause the Dispenser to go down, but the communications should still be updated.

If the status indicates that there is a security error, then the Dispenser communications must be reset (Section G.4.3) for the Dispenser to be operational.

G.4.2 Updating Dispenser Communications

To update the Dispenser communication, perform the following steps:

1. From the Diagnostics application’s “Dispenser” window, select the Status and Tests tab and choose 7 – Set Dispenser Communication and select the Run Test button.

2. Select the Update Dispenser Communication button. The Dispenser communication will be updated and the device will initiate a reset cycle. Access to the Dispenser through the safe door is not required.

G.4.3 Resetting Dispenser Communications

To reset the Dispenser communication, perform the following steps:

1. Access the Dispenser by opening the safe door.

2. From the Diagnostics application’s “Dispenser” window, select the Status and Tests tab and choose 7 – Set Dispenser Communication.

3. As prompted on the Set Dispenser Communication screen, press and hold the AFD CCA Boot Load button (S1) while pressing the on-screen Set Dispenser Communication button. Keep the CCA Boot Load button depressed until the communication set is completed (refer figure below). After the communication set is completed, the message "Read Security Configuration completed" is displayed.

NOTE If you are prompted to reset the test, choose 2 – Reset Test.

4. As prompted on the Set Dispenser Communication screen, press the AFD CCA Reset button (S2).

5. Return to the Diagnostics application’s “Dispenser” window, use the Tab key to navigate to the Status and Tests tab and press the Run Test button.

6. Return to Terminal status. Press the Exit button and wait for the self test of all modules to be completed.

7. Press the Exit Opteva Service Diagnostics + button and press the Yes button to exit Diagnostics.
