Manual Instructions to sign up and acquire your HAL ID and purchase a licence 

Important Information  Registration for a HAL ID number is a one‐time requirement.  Your HAL ID number can then be used to purchase all future Saskatchewan hunting, angling and trapping licences. If you have not had an account created in the new automated hunting, angling and trapping licence (HAL) system, there are three ways it can be obtained:  • online at your convenience at www.gov.sk.ca/huntingandfishing; • through private issuers, Ministry of Environment and select Provincial Park offices; or • by phone at 1‐855‐848‐4773  If you are setting up your HAL ID through a private issuer, Ministry of Environment or a Provincial Park office, or by phone, you will be required to provide the following information:  • Residency status; • Name – If you are a Saskatchewan resident you must provide your name exactly as          

it appears on your valid Saskatchewan Health Services Card; • Date of Birth; • Gender; • Eye and hair colour; • Height; • Mailing address; • Physical (Home) address; and • Contact (home, business, or mobile phone number) 

 *Note: To purchase a hunting, angling or trapping licence, you must provide an identification number, such as driver's licence, RCMP, Canadian Armed Forces, Canadian Firearms licence, or passport number.  This secondary identification can then be used to access your HAL account in the future to purchase licences at private issuers, Ministry of Environment or select Provincial Park offices, or by phone.  If you would like to obtain your HAL ID online, please see the instructions on the following pages.  Once your web account is created, you will be able to purchase hunting, angling, and trapping licences online.

Step 1:  On the Licensing Page, click on the “ENTER” link to get started.  

Step 2:  Click on “New Customers (Create your HAL Account)” at the bottom left corner 

of the page.   

 

Step 3:  Click the radio button beside the identifier you wish to add to your account   and enter in the number. Also enter your date of birth at the bottom of the page in the 

format shown and then click “Lookup Profile”.  

 

Step 4:  A message will pop up informing you that no account has been found with the 

supplied information and if you are a new user, proceed to the sign up page. Click on the 

“sign up page” link. This will take you to the “Create an Account” page where your 

identifier type and number will be preloaded, along with your date of birth. 

Step 5:  Completely fill in all the information. NOTE: For Saskatchewan residents, your 

name must be entered exactly as it appears on your Saskatchewan Health Services card. All sections marked with an asterisk must be filled in. Then click on “Create Account.”  The same email address can be used for more than one family member. 

 

 

Step 6:  “Your Account has been Created Successfully” will appear. Under this, your HAL ID Number is displayed. This is an important number that you should record and keep in a secure place. If you need to update your account information, click the “Update” link or “Update Profile” on the left hand side. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 7:  If you wish to purchase a licence now, click on “Purchase a Licence.”   

Note: For the following example illustrates buying a hunting and angling licence in the same transaction – there 

will be fewer steps if you are buying only one licence type   

 

 

 

Step 8:  A page titled “Residency Status Declaration” appears. Click the residency that applies to you, and then click on “Proceed” at the bottom of the page.  

 

Step 9:  A page titled “Licences” appears. Click the on the licence you wish to purchase from the list provided. 

 

Step 10:  A page titled “Licence Details” appears. Ensure this is the product you wish to buy and then click on “Add to Cart” at the bottom of the page. 

 

Step 11:  For angling licences, a page titled “Product Information Required” appears. 

This page asks a question about angling on Lac la Ronge. Only check Yes, if you really 

intend on angling on Lac la Ronge this year, and an angling endorsement for this lake will 

be added to your shopping cart. You have the opportunity to come back and add one 

later in the year if necessary. Once you have made your selection, click on “Continue” at 

the bottom of the page.  

 

Step 12:  If you have selected “yes” you intend to angle on Lac la Ronge this year, a new page titled “New Products” appears. Click “Continue” to proceed. If not purchasing a hunting licence skip to step 17. 

 

Step 13:  For hunting licences, a page titled “Licence Details” will appear. This page is there to inform customers of any details that are specific to that licence type and also inform them that a SK Wildlife Habitat Licence will be added to their shopping cart if this is the first hunting or trapping licence purchased for the season. If you accept click “Add to Cart”. 

Step 14:  Next a page titled “New Products Added” will appear. This page is there to 

inform customers they are required to purchase a SK Wildlife Habitat Licence for the current hunting/trapping season before they can purchase a hunting or trapping licence (this is a onetime purchase for the current hunting/trapping season). If you wish to purchase the SK Wildlife Habitat Licence click “Continue”. 

 

 

 

Step 15: The next page that appears will be “Education Information”. You must certify 

that you comply with the Firearm Safety/Hunter Education Regulations by clicking the box beside “Yes, I attest” and then click “Submit” before you can continue to the next page. Note that it is against the law to certify you comply with the regulations if you have not completed either your Firearm Safety or Hunter Education. 

 

 

Step 16: A page titled “Seal # Options (optional)” will appear. You will be provided with two choices for purchasing your hunting licence. One option is to enter the seal 

number located on a seal which you obtain in a convenience pack from an issuer or 

select ministry or park office. This option allows you to purchase your licence and hunt 

right away. The other option is for those who have not obtained a convenience pack to 

purchase your licence and have it mailed to you along with your seal (allow 5‐10 

business days for delivery). After selecting an option by clicking on the radio button (and 

enter the seal # if that’s the option you chose) click “Continue”. 

Step 17: The next page to appear for both hunting and angling licences will be titled “Shopping Cart”. If the total is correct, click on “Checkout Shopping Cart” at the bottom 

of the page. This product is similar to many other internet purchase processes. 

Click on “Continue Shopping”  if you would  like  to  add  another licence  to  your  cart.  You  can only add licences for the person signed in. 

Step 18: A page titled “Checkout Shopping Cart” appears. You will be required to enter your credit card payment information and then click the box “I have read and accept the 

above acknowledgement” then click on “Complete this Purchase” located at the bottom 

of the page. 

 

 

Step 19: A page titled “Transaction Complete!” appears. Click on “Print Licences”. You 

must print, sign, date and carry your licence while angling or hunting. Those who purchased a licence that has a corresponding harvest ledger or seal must ensure they fill out the appropriate information and carry these pieces on them along with their licence. 

 

 

 

 

Step 20: Your Angler’s or Hunter’s Licence will be displayed. Click on “Print” at the bottom of the page (see example angling and hunting licences below). 

 

 

 

Ensure  you  enter  this  number  in the appropriate blank on your seal
