HISTORYEarly records show Kirtlington Manor dating from AD 945 and further records show visitations from King Edward the Martyr in the year 977. Before the Norman invasion, in the 11th Century Edward the Confessor held the L-shaped Manor featuring the polygonal turret, which still houses the staircase today. The house has only been owned by two families in the last 100 years.
SITUATIONManor House occupies a lovely position fronting the village Green, with south facing views of the church to the rear across the gardens and within a short walk of the wonderful grounds of Kirtlington Park designed by Capability Brown between 1755-62.
Kirtlington lies adjacent to the River Cherwell and comprises mostly
period stone houses and thatched cottages on two village greens. Its
amenities include a pre-school nursery group, village hall and cricket
pitch, primary school, The Oxford Arms public house, the Dashwood
Hotel and Restaurant, a post office/general stores and the 12th
