Staff attended a further training presented by Martin Westwell. They continued learning about positive impact of displaying a GROWTH MINDSET and looked at ways of setting up student learning for productive struggles and productive failures. I look forward to staff using what they learnt from this training. SAPSASA- Congratulations to both Sam and Celeb for representing Mid North in SAPSASA Football and a special mention to Sam who was recognised as one of the best players for the carnival. Also congratulations to Sasha for representing Mid North in the SAPSASA Netball during week 4 this Term. It has been a busy Term with many interruptions. I have, and will continue, to encourage students and staff to be involved in, and offer a diverse range of academic and extra -curricular activities throughout the year. The only negative with this is that the student’s routine, and especially the routine of learning can be disrupted. I strongly encourage students to ensure that they return their focus, for the remaining four weeks, onto the key aspect of school – academic learning and success. Regards, Liam

He seemed to know the burrow well, so frantically he scurried.

His tongue as quick as lightning. Stirring not a critter, as it scurried.

His body was like a long twig moving in the shadows. Blending in with the earth.

As he passed his burrow he turned, striking out his tongue at the trapdoor spider,

that was now his prey.

I saw a flash of sparkling scales in the sunshine. Double rows of little white teeth were sharp enough to kill.

A head of plated armour protected his tiny body.

Then out of the burrow, with that tongue, so quick,

chasing insects, basking on the rock.

These mini reptiles of the North, are decreasing in numbers by the second. Farmer’s responsibility, do not overstock.

He seemed to know the burrow well,

so frantically he scurried.

Pygmy Blue Tongue Lizard, an endangered species.

FRIDAY 26TH AUGUST There were mixed emotions surrounding the room. It was our first time every recording, composing and making a song. 9.00 am The whole school welcomed Christian with a Bollywood Choir song, Jai Ho. Christian then introduced himself to the school. 9.45 am We then warmed the whole body up with coordination warm ups to do with your brain, body and voice. 10.40 Break 1.15 pm It was now recording time. Christian had the room looking like an actual recording studio! The steps to make a song are difficult, time consuming and fun. First we recorded us singing our choir song, Jungle Rhythm. Then we started to produce our own song about Diversity and how people should be treated in the world. 2.00 pm We needed to combine our great ideas to compose the chorus for the song. 2.50 pm Finally the chorus was complete. It went like this: Different cultures, together forever. Being different makes us who we are. These are the verses: Being unique is a special thing. Everybody has a story to bring. Tolerance of others will bring us together. Peace on Earth should be forever. Learning about cultures is important to do. This can be a great thing to do. 2.45 pm We used the 3 very sensitive microphones to produce a fabulous song, and added the didgeridoo, egg shakers, and tambourine.
