Manchester Cycleway North & West: The Manchester Cycleway (part of the National Cycle Routes 6 and 60), is a cycle and pedestrian route from Chorlton in West Manchester to Heaton Park in North Manchester via Fallowfield, Levenshulme, Gorton, Sportcity, Collyhurst, Cheetham and Crumpsall. General Route Directions: Sportcity - Queens Park Leaving the Ashton Canal at Sportcity, follow Alan Turing Way North, passing over the Rochdale Canal and then cross Oldham Road. The route then continues on-road until you reach the Queens Road Metrolink Bridge. Using a cycle refuge to access the off-road route, pass the Manchester Communications Academy and enter Queens Park via the controlled crossing over Rochdale Road. Future Extension: Queens Park - Heaton Park After passing through the park, take a sharp right down to Smedley and the River Irk and on through the old reservoirs crossing Harpurhey Road towards the Harpurhey ponds. Leaving the ponds, follow Factory Lane and Waterloo Street before bearing left onto Marshbrook Drive, once more glimpsing the River Irk before continuing on past The Old House at Home PH towards The Hexagon Tower. Crossing Old Market Street, follow Chapel Lane, Crab Lane and Weardale Road before arriving at Victoria Avenue. Crossing Victoria Avenue, traverse Heaton Park Road passing the retail units before arriving at Heaton Park. Follow the signs through the park to Heaton Park Metrolink stop.
