Managing Favorites SAP GUI 620 (S000)

 

Purpose

Use this procedure to organize menu selections according to the way the user works.  Users can create and maintain folders for singular menu options, for groups of menu options, or for WEB (Internet/intranet) access.

Trigger

Perform this procedure when a user would like to create, change or delete a folder, transaction, file or website within the Favorites menu folder.

Prerequisites

Before beginning this task, obtain the following information:

         Security access to transaction(s)

         Transaction name or menu path location

         File location

         Website name and address

1.       Start the process from the SAP Easy Access screen.

2.       Perform one of the following:

Adding a subfolder to the Favorites folder of the SAP user menu

Adding a transaction to the subfolder created

Adding a transaction directly to the Favorites folder

Deleting a transaction or subfolder from the SAP user menu

Adding an Internet/intranet website using a subfolder that was previously created.

Complete steps 10 - 11.3 Step 10

User would like to change information regarding the website link created

Complete steps 12 - 13.1 Step 12

User would like to create specific settings for the SAP Easy Access menu, such as placement in the menu of the Favorites folder.

User would like to log off the current SAP session.

3.       Select Favorites Insert folder.

Creating a Folder in the Favorite List

 

    The insert folder option creates file folder(s) to organize SAP transactions the way you want to work.

 

4.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Field Name R/O/C/D Description

Folder name R The descriptive name of the folder.

Example:         Reports

4.1          Select the CONTINUE  icon.

    The system displays the message, "Folder entered in favorites list."

 

5.       Select the subfolder to add the transaction.

5.1          Select the following menu path to add Favorites Insert transaction.

    The Insert transaction option adds, changes and/or moves SAP transactions into a user's file folder(s).

6.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Field Name R/O/C/D Description

Transaction code R A unique four-character (in most cases) identification assigned to each SAP transaction based on its purpose.

Example:         Y_DC1_32000447- PCARS Expenses 

6.1          Select the CONTINUE  icon.

    The system displays the message, "Node added to favorites list."

 

7.       Locate the transaction to be added to "Favorites" by using the menu path.  Example: Accounting  Financial Accounting  Accounts Payable   Master Records  FK03 -Display

7.1          Select the ADD TO FAVORITES  icon.

    The system displays the message, "Node added to favorites list."

 

7.2          An additional way to add a favorite is to select the following menu path.  Favorites Insert transaction

8.       As required, complete/review the following fields:

Transaction code R Description of the Transaction code.

Example:         FBL3 

8.1          Select the CONTINUE  icon.

    The system displays the message, "Node added to favorites list."

 

9.       Select the transaction to be deleted.

Example:         Y_DC1_32000447- PCARS Expenses.

9.1          Select the DELETE FAVORITES  icon.

    An additional method of deleting an object is by right-clicking on the object and selecting Delete Favorite.

    The system displays the message, "Node deleted from favorites list."

 

10.     Select the subfolder to add the Internet/intranet website.  Example:  Work-related websites.

10.1        Select the following menu path to add Favorites Add other objects

Add additional objects

 

    The Add other objects function allows user to enter websites and access them directly from SAP.

 

10.2        By default the system selects the "Web address or file" RADIO  button.

10.3        Select the CONTINUE  icon.

11.     As required, complete/review the following fields:

Text R Free form text for the document that contains explanations or notes that apply to the document as a whole.

Example:         Official Website for the Commonwealth of PA

Web address or file R The identifier that enables a user to find an Internet/intranet website or file on the network.

Example:         www.state.pa.us

Continuation C Additional text to identify and characterize an object or activity.

 

11.1        Select the CONTINUE  icon.

    The system displays the message, "Node added to favorites list."

 

11.2        To verify the website works from the link created, double-click to select the website.

11.3        Select the CLOSE  icon to close the Internet/intranet window.

12.     Select the web address to be changed.

12.1        Right-click on the web address.

12.2        Select Change    Favorite

    The system displays the message, "Node changed."

 

14.     To create specific settings for the SAP Easy Access menu, Select Extras Settings

Indicator Action

Display favorites at end of list Moves the Favorites folder and all contents to the end of the menu on the SAP Easy Access screen.

Do not display menu, only display favorites

Removes all folders, but the Favorites from the SAP Easy Access screen.

Do not display picture When selected this indicator will remove the default SAP Easy Access screen picture.

Display technical names When selected this indicator will show the transaction code as well as the name of the transaction on the SAP Easy Access menu.

 

14.1        Select the "Display favorites at the end of list"  CHECKBOX.

14.2        Select the CONTINUE  icon.

15.     Select the EXIT  icon.

Log Off

 

16.     Select the YES  button to log off of the SAP system.

17.     You have completed the processes.

Result

You have successfully completed the process to create, change or delete a folder, transaction, file or website within the Favorites menu folder.
