    Introduction Management Reporter 2012 for Microsoft Dynamics ERP with Cumulative Update 8 provides several new features to enhance functionality for reporting and better integrate with ERP systems.

    Translate currency information in reports for integrations with Microsoft Dynamics GP.

    Improved options and functionality for viewing reports in Web Viewer.

    Improves general performance.

    This Readme provides information that you must know prior to installation of Management Reporter

    2012. The following sections include troubleshooting details, known issues, and contact information for

    Microsoft Support.

    We strongly recommend that you review this document, the Management Reporter installation guide, and the integration guide for your Microsoft Dynamics ERP system before you begin the installation process.

    System requirements For information about the hardware and software supported with Management Reporter, see the System requirements for Management Reporter.

    Upgrading from a previous release of Management

    Reporter You are not required to manually uninstall a previous version of Management Reporter if you are installing Management Reporter 2012 Cumulative Update 8. To use Management Reporter 2012 Cumulative Update 8, you must upgrade your Management Reporter database and install updated versions of all Management Reporter components. Management Reporter will not operate correctly if there is a version mismatch between the database, the server components, the client components, and the data provider(s).

    For more information about the upgrade process, see the Management Reporter installation guide.

    Note: Before you begin the upgrade process, we highly recommend that you create backups of your Management Reporter database.

    When you install Cumulative Update 8, the Management Reporter 2012 process service stops until the Management Reporter database is updated to the current schema version. After the database is updated, you must manually start the process service again using the Configuration Console.

    Note: After each update, clear the browser cache for Web Viewer, or refresh the web browser

    (Ctrl+F5). If the browser cache is not cleared, reports are not displayed correctly.

    Installation troubleshooting The following issues have been identified during installation of Management Reporter.

    Password error displayed during installation

    The Management Reporter Configuration Console requires access to the SQL Server that will host the Management Reporter database. If a firewall prohibits access to the server, the following message might be displayed: The password could not be validated against the password policy.

    If you encounter this message, you might need to open ports in the firewall on the SQL Server. For more information, see KnowledgeBase article 2717318 (https://mbs2.microsoft.com/Knowledgebase/KBDisplay.aspx?scid=kb$en-us$2717318)

    Initial integration with ERP does not complete successfully

    When you configure a data mart integration with an ERP database, the integration process might stop and the following error message might be displayed: Please wait while the Configuration Console finalizes the integration. Initial integration has not started.

    If you encounter this message, review the data mart integration log to verify that the number of user roles has not exceeded the number of licensed users. For more information or additional assistance, contact Microsoft Support.

    Troubleshooting for reports The following issues have been identified in this release of Management Reporter 2012.

    Reports not displayed correctly in Web Viewer after update

    When Cumulative Update 8 is installed, the Web Viewer must be refreshed to display report data. If you generate a new report and open it in Web Viewer after Cumulative Update 8 is installed, the report might not display correctly and the report might appear empty. If you encounter this behavior, clear the browser cache, or press Ctrl+F5 to refresh the web browser and display the report data.

    Column breaks not supported in XPS reports

    In Management Reporter, you can add column breaks to a row definition to create side-by-side reports. Column breaks are supported in Desktop Viewer, Web Viewer, and reports exported to Microsoft Excel worksheets only. If you export a report with column breaks as an XPS document, the column breaks might not display correctly.

    Average currency not calculated correctly in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

    In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, the Average currency type carries over previous months rate if no rate is entered for the beginning of the month. To calculate average currency for a specific month, enter a rate for the first of the month.

    Report Designer closes when identical images are used in the same

    report

    Report Designer does not currently support the use of multiple images with identical content in the same report, such as when the image in a report header is a copy of the same image in the report footer. If each copy of the image has a unique filename, Report Designer might close when the

    building blocks for the report are exported and imported again. This occurs because the error Column Hash has the same value for each copy of the same image.

    To avoid this behavior, use one copy only of an image in a report, or use the same copy of the same image in the report.

    Posting report links to a Microsoft SharePoint site

    To post links to reports on a Microsoft SharePoint site, the following prerequisites must be completed:

    The Service account must be granted Design permissions to the libraries where the reports will be posted. For more information about this account, see the Management Reporter installation guide.

    The Link to Document content type must be added to the list of supported content types. For more information, see Add an existing content type to a list or library at the Microsoft Office help site (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/add-an-existing-content-type-to-a-

    list-or-library-HA010110606.aspx).

    Note: Management Reporter does not support report links that use the + character in Microsoft SharePoint 2007. To post reports to Microsoft SharePoint 2007 locations, make sure that the output location does not include the + character.

    Error message displayed when using the Web Viewer in Windows XP

    If you are using Windows XP to view a report in the Web Viewer, the report might fail to load and an error message might be displayed that indicates that the web browser does not support all of the available features on a report. If you encounter this error, upgrade your web browser or use the most recent version of another web browser.

    To view reports that have been generated in Management Reporter, Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 10, or another current-generation web browser must be installed on the client computer. For

    more information, see the System requirements for Management Reporter.

    Troubleshooting for integrations The following issues have been identified for integrations in this release. Recommendations to work around the issues are provided when available.

    Data mart database is renamed after creating a new data mart

    integration

    In Management Reporter Cumulative Update 8, when you create a new data mart integration or data mart database, the new data mart database is named ManagementReporterDM by default.

    If you have an existing data mart database or data mart integration and you upgrade to CU8, the

    existing database and integration are not affected.

    Data mart displays only attributes associated with transactions

    In previous versions of Management Reporter, data providers displayed all attribute values that were listed in the ERP database, regardless of context or functionality. This included attributes that were not associated with transaction data.

    When you use a data mart integration, Management Reporter 2012 now displays only the attribute values that are associated with a transaction. This improves report generation and data analysis.

    Integration not running

    If an integration does not appear to be running, or if you suspect another issue with the integration, open the Scheduling.Message table of the ManagementReporter database to view detailed information about integration processes.

    Using Management Reporter Help When you click the Help button on a Management Reporter form, the Management Reporter Help file is displayed. Help can also be opened from the toolbar, or by pressing F1.
