Dear friends, This project started with a simple, creative idea and a mission to do something good for others. That idea has grown into years of grassroots community work around

the world, arts enrichment for people of all ages, and beautiful events that raise awareness about issues that affect us all. It never ceases to amaze me when I see someone touched by the power of Art, Music and Nature.

Thank you for your taking the time to learn about our work. We ask for your support in helping the global team that i s M a m a E a r t h o f f e r pathways and opportunities for people of all ages and

backgrounds to give back, be inspired and develop skills and too l s fo r hea l ing , success and happiness. Mahalo,

OUR STORY.

Page 12: MAMA EARTH | MAKING A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER

Back in 2007, Hawaii-native, artist and mother of two boys, Jaime Kailani BAYOT, worked as a Booking Manager for her talented younger brother, Bruno.

As she worked with concert venues around Los Angeles, she was insp i red to use these relationships to do something

good for others. As Bayot puts it, “I wanted to give people easy a n d f u n o p p o r t u n i t i e s t o experience how GOOD it feels to

give.” Bayot created a Mama

Earth “Wish Bracelet” with an idea to help schools wi th fundraising and empower kids to

make a change for the better in their own communities. In 2009, she hosted an official launch party in Santa Monica, California

with star-studded performances and a mission to raise money for Shine On Sierra Leone and Nourish the Children. Since that

special night, the world has witnessed Bruno Mars go on to worldwide success and also

fallen in love with his family. The eldest of Bruno’s four sisters, Jaime Kailani has often been

called the “Do Gooder,” always embracing an opportunity to give someone a helping hand. With lots of love from people around the

world, Mama Earth has grown into an organization with followers in more than 40 countries.

In 2009, Andrea Miller joined the team as Director. Andrea was born on the East Coast to South African parents that came to the U.S. in the mid-1960’s and grew up in Orange County, CA. She brought

her unique perspect ive, her production skills, and ongoing grassroots projects about edible gardening and Food Justice.

W i t h h a r d w o r k a n d dedication to this labor of love, Mama Earth is honored to have partnered with nearly 20 schools ( p r e s c h o o l t o u n i v e r s i t y ) , community hubs, senior centers and socially-conscious businesses to present ongoing al l -ages enrichment classes, successful art events and fundraising concerts in the US and abroad.

W i t h m a n y w o n d e r f u l opportunities on the horizon and growing partnerships with amazing schools, historic Los Angeles venues a n d s o c i a l l y - r e s p o n s i b l e companies, we look forward to another year of programming f o c u s e d o n t h e a r t s a n d empowering people of all-ages to make a change for the better, wherever they are.

COLORING MANDALAS

Mama Earth brings Art Activities to children and families in the hospital due to sickness or injury. Making art provides an easier way to express emotions and feelings. It can help kids and adults cope with grief

and loss, learning disabilities, emotional problems, abuse of any kind and terminal illness. A mandala is a symbol that can be found in every culture a n d r e l i g i o n t h a t r e p r e s e n t s t h e u n i v e r s e .

Coloring Mandalas  is a way to express hidden parts of yourself and explore the spiritual process with color and texture. Benefits include relieving tension, anxiety, fear and worry, stimulate creative thinking & problem solving.

GROW WHERE YOU ARE Classes and workshops explore the how’s & why’s of Urban Gardening. Students, parents, teachers and community organizers learn helpful information about HOW to garden but more importantly, are reminded WHY we tend the garden: to be grounded, to have a childlike sense of wonder about the world around us, to build community. Mama Earth has presented more than 60 Grow Where You Are workshops and lectures at schools, universities, senior centers and teaching gardens.
