PERFORMANCE

2.0L TURBO ENGINE. Standard on Premier is a robust 2.0L turbo engine producing 250 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. It is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission that offers quick, seamless shifting. While performance is the first thing you will notice, a highway fuel consumption estimate of 7.4 L/100 km1, 2 will certainly put a smile on your face.

1.5L TURBO ENGINE. For 2019, the 1.5L turbo engine is coupled with a new Continuously Variable Transmission, standard on LS, RS and LT. This 1.5L engine produces 163 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, providing performance you may not expect. With a highway fuel consumption estimate of 6.6 L/100 km,1, 3 this is bound to get your attention.

PROVEN HYBRID TECHNOLOGY. Leveraging components and knowledge from the Chevrolet Volt and Bolt EV, the 2019 Malibu Hybrid is powered by a direct injected 1.8L 4-cylinder engine mated to a two-motor electric drive unit. The drive unit provides additional energy to assist the engine for a total of 182 horsepower (136 kW).

LITHIUM-ION BATTERY PACK. An 80-cell, 1.5 kWh lithium-ion batterypack provides electric power to thehybrid system that can propel MalibuHybrid to speeds over 80 km/h withelectricity alone. The gasoline-powered engine will automatically come on in certain circumstances, such as at higher speeds and high loads, to provide additional energy.4

THE MOST FUEL-EFFICIENT MALIBU. Malibu Hybrid has fuel efficiency ratings that might have you look twice. The highway fuel consumption estimate is 5.5 L/100 km1 and the city fuel consumption estimate is just 4.8 L/100 km,1 pretty interesting indeed.

LIGHT AND STRONG. Malibu features a robust body structure that contributes to its nimble handling and excellent ride. By combining both press-hardened steel and ultra-high-strength steel, engineers created a cabin that is strong and lightweight.

QUIET AND SERENE. The quiet nature of Malibu begins with a honed exterior shape. It continues with sound-softening acoustic materials that help reduce, block and absorb road noise. The bottom line for you: a rewarding drive, one hushed kilometre after another.

RESPONSIVE AND AGILE. Variable-effort Electric Power Steering (EPS) uses energy only when steering effort is applied. Balancing responsiveness and comfort, EPS feels light but agile, providing greater assistance at low speeds and tighter control when you’re cruising at highway speeds.

SAFETY WE’RE SERIOUS ABOUT SAFETY.ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL – ADVANCED.

This available feature on Premier can automatically adapt your cruise control speed in order to maintain a driver-selected following gap to vehicles detected ahead while the driver steers, reducing the need to frequently brake and accelerate.

AVAILABLE FRONT PEDESTRIAN BRAKING. If the system detects that a pedestrian is directly ahead and a collision is imminent, and the driver has not already applied the brakes, the system alerts the driver and may even automatically apply the brakes to help the driver avoid or reduce the harm caused by the collision. Performance is limited at night. Standard on Hybrid and Premier, available on LT.

FORWARD AUTOMATIC BRAKING. Using the same radar sensors as Adaptive Cruise Control – Advanced, Forward Automatic Braking is engineered to help mitigate collisions or prevent them at very low speeds. If the system detects an imminent front-end collision with a detected vehicle, it is designed to alert the driver and can automatically apply the brakes if you have not already done so. Available on Premier.

LOW SPEED FORWARD AUTOMATIC BRAKING.1 Camera-based Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking is designed to help prevent or mitigate collisions at speeds below 80 km/h. Standard on Hybrid and Premier, available on LT.

FORWARD COLLISION ALERT. This available feature is designed to monitor how close your vehicle is to a detected vehicle in front of you. If the system determines that a front-end collision with a detected vehicle is imminent, it is designed to alert the driver to a potential crash. It can also warn the driver if their Malibu is following a detected vehicle much too closely.

LANE KEEP ASSIST WITH LANE DEPARTURE WARNING. This camera-based system monitors road lines and can provide gentle steering wheel turns (and Lane Departure Warning alerts if necessary) to help drivers avoid unintentionally drifting out of their detected lane when they are not actively steering and their turn signal is not activated. Standard on Hybrid and Premier, available on LT.

LANE CHANGE ALERT WITH SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT. Radar sensors in the rear corners of the vehicle are designed to help detect fast-approaching vehicles in the adjacent lanes as well as moving vehicles in the side mirror blind zones. Amber icons in the exterior mirrors indicate a vehicle’s presence. Standard on Hybrid and Premier, available on LT.

REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT. Using radar sensors, this feature is designed to alert the driver to crossing traffic behind Malibu when in Reverse. Audible warnings, as well as visual alerts on the Rear Vision Camera screen, are triggered if approaching vehicles are detected. Standard on Hybrid and Premier, available on LT.

REAR PARK ASSIST. This feature is designed to alert the driver, when in Reverse, by sounding an audible alert and providing visual indication on the Rear Vision Camera screen when it detects certain stationary objects in close proximity behind the vehicle. Standard on Hybrid and Premier, available on LT.

AUTOMATIC PARKING ASSIST. This ingenious available system is designed to enable Malibu Premier to detect viable parking spaces, determine approach angles and take over the steering to neatly manoeuvre into an available space. The driver follows text commands, selects gear, and performs all braking and acceleration, but the vehicle can steer itself into any suitably sized reverse parallel or reverse right-angle (90-degree) parking spot. Safety or driver assistance features are no substitute for the driver’s responsibility to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. The driver should remain attentive to traffic, surroundings and road conditions at all times. Visibility, weather and road conditions may affect feature performance. 1. THE STRENGTH AROUND YOU. Malibu is equipped with a safety cage containing ultra-high-strength steel and 10 standard airbags.1

TEEN DRIVER.2 Perfect for new drivers, Teen Driver technology helps encourage better driving habits by providing an in-vehicle report card that monitors the activation frequency of certain available safety tech features that are activated, muting the audio system when front-seat occupants aren’t wearing their seat belts, and giving audible and visual warnings when the vehicle is travelling over a predetermined speed.

3. ONSTAR AUTOMATIC CRASH RESPONSE. In a crash, built-in sensors are designed to send a signal that can alert a specially trained, Emergency Medical Dispatch- certified advisor3 who can help you get the assistance you need — even if you can’t ask for it. The advisor can use GPS technology to help pinpoint your vehicle’s location. This service requires a paid subscription to the OnStar Safety & Security Plan.4
