Pollution Free Installing a Comet Windmill will help reduce your carbon footprint by reducing the amount of energy used by fossil fuel pumps therefore lowering your impact on the environment. Windmills convert wind into mechanical energy with zero net CO2 emissions. Stability and Safety All Comet towers are designed with a high safety factor. The 4-post design and heavy steel construction provides greater stability to stand firm in strong winds. No matter how you look at it, four posts will always be stronger and safer than three. Available in 20ft to 60ft heights. Long Life The Comet Windmill has been proven for over 130 years backing up all claims of long life and sustainability. The Comet Windmill has been known to last for over 70 years with not much attention. A well maintained windmill can last many years with a little oil and checking of the bolts to keep the windmill performing at its’ best. No Fuel or Power Bill This has to be the main draw card for the Comet Windmill. The initial outlay for the windmill is quickly offset by the reduction in your fuel or power bill. All you need is a breeze, and the windmill will start pumping. Low Maintenance Our systems have been designed to be self sufficient requiring very little attention during the normal remote operation of a windmill. All steel work is hot dip galvanised, and the principal parts are cast from heavy duty materials giving longer life. Ideal for Remote Areas The Comet Windmill operates under all climatic extremes from snow fields and arid deserts, to tropical cyclones where they run without supervision for long periods of time. Safety Features Unlike other windmill designs Comet Windmills have a unique galvanised steel platform with antislip grate floor, perimeter toe plate and heavy duty support angles. The large area provides a safe environment to carry out maintenance. We can also supply safety equipment. How Far can the Water be Pumped? The powerful action of the Comet Windmill can push the water (depending on the size of the windmill head, and the pump diameter) up to 1,000ft high. Apart from this, the distance is not much of an issue. Simple Design There is no need for skilled technicians or tradesmen to erect, maintain or troubleshoot. Our skilled staff has many years of experience that are only too happy to help. Comet does not endorse the use of non genuine parts as it will cause more damage to your windmill in the long run. Companies claiming to make parts suitable for Comet Windmills and stating that these parts are stronger or better, have no grounds or proven experience to guarantee or make these claims. Genuine Comet parts have been made for over 130 years of unfailing quality from certified engineer drawings

Presentation Notes
Comet windmills have a wide range of pump sizes and types to suit even extremely abrasive and corrosive conditions and to match all pumping needs. Among the variety are: Heavy Duty Draw Plunger Pumps with bronze ball or sleeve valves; Flush End Pumps, and self priming Syphon pumps. The pumps are capable of bringing water from more than 650 feet (198m) underground, as well as taking water from the source to the reservoirs some distance away or on to the hillsides or hilltops. There are installations where windmills have, for many years, successfully pumped water to reservoirs 13 miles (20.8km) from the source. Steel towers for Comet Windmills range from 20 feet (6.1m) to 60 feet (18.3m) high and are of the four-legged type. Widely spread legs give greater stability as well as more working room inside the tower.

Presentation Notes
THE 'DIRECT-ACTING' PRINCIPLE Geared Mills have more wearing surfaces, resulting in more friction and its consequent absorption of power. The plain single-crank is the simplest principle known. Designed correctly, it gives more power with less wear and longer life. All Comet Mills work on the direct acting principle, by the use of a single-throw crankshaft, with only three working parts. They are the Driving Shaft which is integral with the wind wheel and crank, the Connecting Rod and the Crosshead. Comet transmits much more of the wheel power to the pump plunger for the job of pumping, every turn of the Comet wheel creates a pump stroke compared to geared mills that need a number of wheel turns to create a pump stroke. SIMPLICITY The driving force comes through the wheel, the driving shaft, and then through the inner crank arm on to the pin. The extra arm used on some mills is only an encumbrance, and a cause of unnecessary friction. The working parts of the COMET are reduced to a minimum quantity. SENSITIVITY The COMET is properly balanced on top of the tower, making it extremely sensitive in action and regulation. More wind power is converted to useful work by the COMET, because of its almost frictionless working parts. This reinforces why using only Genuine Comet spare parts which are designed and engineered specifically for Comet Windmills are integral to the overall balance and subsequent power of the mill. STRENGTH The COMET shafts are larger, wheels stronger, and castings and forgings are heavier. Cost has not been reduced by cutting down on weight or strength. Modern labour saving methods with special machinery, together with the use of the highest quality material, enable us to give you greater value in the COMET Mill. Comet uses high quality Australian materials and all parts are made in Australia.

COMET RENEWABLE PUMPS

Types and Uses of Comet Pumps

Draw Plunger Pumps with Bronze Ball or Sleeve Valves - for the deepest bores and high pressures. The plunger and bottom valve can be drawn up through the column for servicing

Flush End Pumps – ideal for pumping from wells or shallow bores to an elevation of 200ft.

Syphon Force Pumps - for pumping from dams, earth tanks or creeks at suction elevations to 23 feet, and for forcing water at high pressures
