Set a date and choose a great spot, in a place that is secure but easy for everyone to see and get to. We recommend you opt for a minimum of a couple of weeks for the event itself, allowing people plenty of time to get involved.

Use the enclosed posters to promote the Donation Station event. Use newsletters, emails and social media to remind people and of course good old fashioned word of mouth. Be sure to hand out Donation Station bags to everyone a couple of weeks before the event so people have enough time to fill their bags beforehand. Please also let them know their stock donation could be worth 25% more if they sign up to Gift Aid by completing the form enclosed in their bag.

GIVE EVERYONE A bAG

Use everything you have to create a big visual splash around your Donation Station site. Your totaliser poster will help inform everyone of the progress being made. Fill in the total number of bags you’re aiming to collect and as you reach milestones in your target, record them on the totaliser to promote success.

If you expect to receive more than twenty bags please call 01403 210 585 between 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri, to arrange a collection. Ideally we will need at least two weeks notification for this. You can save us £25 by dropping the bags off at your local Cancer Research UK shop. Find it at cruk.org/findashop.

Thanks to supporters like you in 2011/12 our Donation Stations raised over £939,102 worth of stock for us to sell in our shops. Just one bag could be worth as much as £30 with Gift Aid.

Please let people know they can Gift Aid their stock donation and make it worth even more. UK tax payers can sign up to Gift Aid by completing the Gift Aid form enclosed with their Donation Station bag. This means the donations we receive can increase by at least 25% without it costing anyone a penny. Conditions Apply.

This means:

23 bags

could cover the cost of one person taking part in a clinical trial to improve survival for bowel cancer patients.

100 bags

could cover the basic costs for one patient to take part in a clinical trial to improve treatment of a type of head and neck cancer.

540 bags

could cover one year’s running expenses for a lab project into a type of children’s cancer to improve treatments so more children survive.
