Importing the image

Here I basically just imported the image and made some brightness/contrast changes.

The image needed to be bold and stand out.

I tried it on various background but it blended in really nicely with the white background.

Adding the masthead

The masthead had to relate the genre. Old school rock, I brought this across by using a Pac-man font and then pasting it onto the main image, with a red outline of a drop shadow.

To get some of the writing under his head I had to create a new layer and put the writing under his head.

Styling

The next point was to add this stamp of a star, I wanted to put a little advertisement on top. Most probably a competition of some sort.

Adding text

Making a graffiti style font online, enabled me to create the “king Adz”, sign.

It tells the reader directly who the magazine is about and decides then and there if the reader will want to have the magazine.

Styling

After having a little think I knew I wanted to add a competition advertisement on to the page. I built this on top of the star and I hope that this will make readers want to read the magazine.

Adding text

I had to start putting some text into the page, using the idea of keeping the writing to the left (because that is all that would be seen when being displayed in a shop).

Here I used lots of drop shadows to make the text bold, as well as different colours.

Adding images

I used the CD I made to add a bit more style to the magazine, it gives the reader the chance to read up on more bands and see who is in the magazine.

Adding bits

The last details I added were the barcode, price and the date. This just takes into mind the necessities of a magazine.
