• The2012StateBondingBillwasapprovedonMay11,2012andprovides$13.3millioninremodeling and expansion of our Faribault Campus. Work will begin on remodeling in January 2013, with groundbreaking for the expansion in the spring of 2013.
• SCCisproudtoberecognizedasa‘BeyondtheYellowRibbonCollege’forourcommitmenttoserving veterans, military service members and their families. This special recognition was made on behalf of Governor Mark Dayton on July 27, 2012.

• SouthCentralCollegeisinthethirdyearofa5-yearTRiOStudentSupportServicesgrant.SCCisproviding tutoring and academic/personal support to increase retention, transfer and graduation rates of our under-represented students. New in 2012, was the Creation of the TRiO Pipeline Project with Minnesota State University Mankato to ease the transition for students transferring to MSU to complete their 4-year degree.
• SCC’sFoundationsprovided$303,255inscholarshipsto378studentsbasedonacademicachievementandfinancialneed.SCChassevenPresidentialScholarswhoarereceivingfulltuitionfortheir3.75orhigher,highschoolGPAanddemonstratedleadershipskills.SCC’s2013PresidentialScholars are: Keely Wardyn of Faribault, Julia Miller of St. Peter, Mariah Sonnek of Waldorf and Jena Williams of Lake Crystal.
• SCCreceivedthegiftofa2012ChevyCruzefromMankatoMotors.Thecarwillbeusedbythecollege’sadmissionsteamforrecruitmentactivities.SCCinvolvedstudentsinGraphicCommunications, Computer Careers, Auto Body & Collision Technology and Computer Integrated Machining to complete the project.

• SCC’sSpeechTeamtook3rdplaceinthecommunitycollegedivisionatthe35thAmericanForensics Association National Tournament, hosted by Texas State University. Anna Kelley and Rebekah Buege took home the national honors for SCC.
