Strong rumors that J. F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe were involved in a secret romance have for some time been widespread in the U.S.

But now, a prominent and respected European news-magazine has published infor-mation that not only seems to confirm these rumors, but even goes considerably further.

JFK and Marilyn Monroe had a love-child in 1961, the magazine alleges.

The issue of the Italian newsmagazine Oggi, dated October 3, 1972, carries a report in which French journal-ist Jean Marcilly claims to have

proof that JFK and Marilyn Monroe did have a child. The story he writes offers to unravel many of the baffling mysteries that surround Marilyn Mon-roe's tragic death, and the time immediately leading up to it.

"Why would such a successful and beautiful woman want to kill herself in the prime of her life?" asks Marcilly. "Who did she try to telephone on the night that she died? Why are so many of her actions immediately preceding her death still kept a closely guarded secret by police?"

These questions have been asked many times before. Mar-cilly says he has plausible answers to them. First in a broadcast on French TV, and then in an exclusive report to Oggi, Marcilly revealed his explanation of these as yet unanswered questions:

FLOWERS AND A NAMEPLATE on the wall of her tomb are all that remain of Marilyn Monroe's fame

Prominent French Reporter Says MM Confessed All In Mexico Just A Few Months Before She Killed Herself "Marilyn Monroe had

become a mother," he declares. "But it brought her only tragedy. She was not permitted to see her baby, for the worst possible reasons — 'affairs of state' forbade her. The father of the baby was none other than John F. Kennedy — President of the United States."

Marcilly declares that this is more than mere conjecture. The French reporter claims he had many conversations with Marilyn Monroe in the months before she died, while she was living in Mexico. There, he claims that the film star revealed secrets of her life to him that very few people were aware of, including an account of the events that led to her introduction to JFK.

"It was a member of the Hol-lywood community who introduced Marilyn to JFK," writes Marcilly. "That was in

1959, and for the next three years — up until she died — they saw each other often.

"At a time of great stress Marilyn turned to JFK for help. She was having trouble with her marriage, and was receiving threatening letters from the pub-lic on account of her open sup-port of her husband, who was said to be having affairs with other women at the time. JFK proved to be more than just a friend in need."

Marcilly says that during one of his visits to Marilyn's place in Mexico, they had a long con-versation about her alleged 'lover', JFK.

"I asked her if she met him often," writes Marcilly in Oggi. "She simply answered, `I can see him whenever I want to.' Then she went on: 'John is suffering from back trouble, and may need me. If he does, he will call.' "

As yet, at the time of this con-versation, Marcilly was not aware of the child that was reportedly born to Marilyn and JFK. But he was perturbed to notice that after their affair was over, Marilyn seemed to be inexplicably happy:

Marcilly claims: "An infor-mant, who no doubt was opposed to JFK's success in poli-tics, had told Jackie of JFK's affair with Marilyn, and Jackie had responded with a predict-able rage. She told Kennedy that he must either stop seeing Mari-

Marcilly claims that certain facts he has pieced together indicate that Marilyn may have had an excellent reason for her happiness — pregnancy.

He writes: "While working on her new film, with Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift, which was also to be her last, Marilyn often had to stop work because of dizziness, fainting spells and a constant feeling of nausea."

All symptoms of pregnancy. Also, Marcilly reports, it was while this film was being made that another incident occurred that served to strengthen sus-picions that Marilyn was in fact pregnant.

JEAN MARCILLY says Marilyn told him everything

in Mexico "Clark Gable appeared on the

set beaming with happiness, and declared that he was going to be a father. Naturally enough, everyone went to congratulate him, including Marilyn Monroe. But what she said was very dif-ferent from the words of the others.

"She said 'You're lucky. At least you have the good fortune to be able to announce your joy to the whole world.' "

At the time her words were soon forgotten, but in the light of subsequent events and other clues, Marcilly says, they take

lyn, or forget about his political career — the American people would never vote for a divorced man as President. Kennedy chose his career over his romance.

"After. Kennedy left her, Marilyn should have been depressed. However, she was extremely happy. Everyone who met her couldn't under-stand why she was so happy."

JFK, according to Marcilly, finally put his career before his heart

REPORT CLAIMS Jackie flew into a rage when she found out about JFK's affair

on a more significant meaning. Other events such as Marilyn's appearance at a film premiere shortly after the incident on the film set also offer clues to her pregnancy.

"Marilyn appeared in a long black gown, perhaps to hide the fact that she was gaining weight," reports Marcilly. "A newspaperman said to her 'We notice you are putting on weight', to which Marilyn replied simply 'How about that?'

"The newspapermen con-tinued with their questions. They asked her 'Why did you

divorce Arthur Miller?' She replied 'You should know the reason why.'

"This indicated that she was putting on weight not from over-eating, but because of preg-nancy. Marilyn made it quite clear."

Shortly after this, Marcilly reports, Marilyn was admitted to a hospital near Hollywood. No one was allowed to see her, and when she left, she had 'lost a great deal of weight'. Accord-ing to Marcilly, she had had her baby.

Marcilly then describes an incident which occurred after

MARILYN MONROE was pregnant during filming of The Misfits', claims reporter Marcilly. She's shown above

with Montgomery Clift on the set of that movie

JEAN MARCILLY claims Marilyn's baby looks very much like this photo of MM herself as a child

Marilyn's death, in Mexico. He claims to have seen Marilyn's and JFK's child!

"I was with a friend," writes Marcilly. "One day we were out driving in a jeep, and my friend suddenly yelled out, 'Look at that little girl — she looks exactly like Marilyn!' We stopped. A girl of about 3 years was looking directly at us — an astonishing miniature of Marilyn Monroe, with her blonde hair, wide forehead, beautiful eyes and adorable nose. A most incredible resemblance.

"I couldn't believe my eyes. I wanted to take a picture, but two men appeared from the villa behind her, carrying guns. We were told to go away."

Marcilly says that he was told that the child was 'heiress to a great fortune', and that the house had been rented by some `very rich Americans'. When he returned to the house, the party had moved away.

"I am now positive that the child we saw was the love-child of Marilyn and JFK," claims Marcilly.

His enthusiasm on this point is hard to justify. Three-year-old girls all look remark-ably alike, and many `v.zry rich Americans' have villas in Mex-ico — many of them hiring armed guards to protect their children from kidnappers.

It becomes necessary to em-phasize at this point that the story and opinions reported and stated by Mr. Marcilly are his own. Oggi is merely report-ing them and this story is an account of the Oggi report.

However, Marcilly goes on: "The night Marilyn died she is said to have called the White House. If this is not so, why were all records of the calls that

night destroyed? It all seems quite clear to me. A child is liv- . ing somewhere, aged 11, who will soon begin to ask herself, `Who am l?' Her mother was a beautiful and famous actress, and her father the most impor-tant American of his day. She knows none of this."

What is the real truth behind these events, shrouded in secrecy, which preceded Marilyn's death? Marcilly is confident that further investiga-tion will prove his deposition to be correct.

MIDNIGHT called Oggi in Milan, to find out if they had

tried to verify the story before pLiblishing it:

"We felt the story merited publication and the background information that we received was sufficient for us to consider that the story was accurate," said Mr. Ferraula, an official of the Milan-based Italian magazine.

"Verification is difficult to control because as you know both JFK and MM are dead.

"The author, Jean Marcilly, and the French source from which we received the story both had a good reputation for hon-esty and accuracy."
