MAINSPRING - A VALUABLE GREENHOUSE SOLUTION

• In a new chemistry class making it a powerful resistance management tool

• Systemic insecticide that controls key chewing and sucking pests such as leafminer, caterpillar, thrips and whitefly

• Compatible with many beneficial insects for use in an integrated crop management program

Page 3: MAINSPRING & ENFOLD NEW OPTIONS FOR INSECT … · resistance management tool • Systemic insecticide that controls key chewing and sucking pests such as leafminer, caterpillar, thrips

3 MAINSPRING LABEL

• Mainspring™ • Formulation: 1.67 lb ai/gal SC • REI – 4 hr • Registered under Reduced Risk process* • Use sites: greenhouses, interior plantscapes • Applications: foliar spray, soil broadcast

spray, soil drench and chemigation - Foliar applications 1 – 16 fl oz/100gal

- Drench applications 12 fl oz/100gal • Use Limit: 32 fl oz of product per acre/crop

*A reduced risk pesticide use is defined as one which may reasonably be expected to accomplish one or more of the following; (1) reduces pesticide risks to human health; (2) reduces pesticide risks to non-target organisms; (3) reduces the potential for contamination of valued, environmental resources, or (4) broadens adoption of IPM or makes it more effective. Mainspring qualifies under one or more of the above criteria.

Page 4: MAINSPRING & ENFOLD NEW OPTIONS FOR INSECT … · resistance management tool • Systemic insecticide that controls key chewing and sucking pests such as leafminer, caterpillar, thrips

4 MODE OF ACTION

• IRAC Group 28 – second generation ryanodine receptor insecticide

• Cyantraniliprole selectively activates the ryanodine receptor in the insects’ muscles causing release and depletion of intracellular stores of calcium ions - results in paralysis - rapid cessation of feeding, mortality observed 2-7 days - reduces transmission of diseases & feeding damage

8 PLANT SAFETY

• Mainspring has been tested across a wide number of ornamental plant species and has shown good plant safety

• Use of an adjuvant may help improve spray coverage on waxy or difficult-to-wet leaf surfaces and will help minimize visible spray residue

APPLICATION TIPS

Apply when larvae first appear, before populations reach damaging levels

Target small larvae (<1/4 inch in length)

Thorough spray coverage is essential

Rainfast as soon as spray has dried

The use of a penetrating type spray adjuvant such as horticultural oil or a nonionic surfactant is recommended and may improve performance

Do not use sticker/binder type adjuvants.

Do not tank mix with Daconil® fungicide, Weather Stik ® fungicide or Dithane ® Rainshield™

Do not tank mix with other pesticide containing a sticker/binder type adjuvant

Do not use liquid fertilizer as a carrier for Enfold
