• The building is oriented along a North South axis.

• This minimizes East and West facing wall surfaces which reduces direct heat gain.

• South, East and West facing windows have exterior sun shades to reduce direct heat gain.

PREVAILING WIND ORIENTATION

• Prevailing winds run from North to South. The primary entries are sheltered by the classroom wings located on the East and West sides of the building.

NATURAL LIGHTING

• All classrooms have natural lighting.

• Interior light shelves bounce additional daylight into classrooms.

• The mall area has clerestory windows to provide natural daylight to the interior of the building.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

• All windows are constructed with dual pane insulated glass to reduce exterior heat gain and reduce internal heat loss.

• Each classroom has its own efficient roof top Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning package unit.

• The roof is designed to be 30% more efficient than a standard roof.
