Military Officers Association of America Mahoning Shenango Valleys Chapter Navy Operational Support Center Youngstown • MSVC–MOAA 3976 King Graves Road Bldg 540 • Vienna, OH 44473-5980 and www.moaa.org Military Officers Association of America February 2013• Volume 3 Issue 2 During a January meeting of the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys Chapter (MSVC) of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) newly elected officers were sworn into office by COL Brian Anderson, USAF, Ret, who trav- elled from MOAA’s national headquarters in Alexandria VA. COL Anderson is the Deputy Director of the Council and Chapter Affairs Office and was the guest speaker during the banquet ceremony. Taking the reigns as President of the Chapter is Major Peter Mihai, USA, Ret. Major Mihai served with the 108 th Artillery Divi- sion in Vietnam and is a former president of the Canton MOAA Chapter. Guest speaker Col Anderson congratulated the local chapter for being a National Category One winner for recruiting new Chapter members. While national mem- bership has increased to over 380,000 officers from all branches of the service former, active and retired, Col Anderson noted that MOAA’s primary emphasis is to increase chapter participation where local advocacy issues can best fulfill MOAA’s primary mission to protect the benefits earned by our military members for serving our country. LTC Donald E. Rasile, USAR, Re- tired was presented with the MOAA Ambassador Award, by LTC Michael Wisniewski, USAR, Retired at a recent Installation Banquet ceremony held at the Consolidated Activities Center of the Youngstown Air Force Reserve Sta- tion, Vienna. e coveted Ambassador Award is presented to an individual for their exemplary civic and military service to the local Chapter, to their community, and to the country. LTC Rasile is a charter member of the Ma- honing and Shenango Valleys Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, served as its first, 2 nd Vice President and is currently the Historian for the Chapter. During his tenure, LTC Rasile also served as the Membership Chairman and succeeded in bringing recognition to the Chapter as a National Category One winner for recruiting new Chapter members. Call for Vietnam Era PhotosAs a tribute to veterans of the Vietnam War, the Ohio De-partment of Veterans Services is requesting photos of Ohio veterans who served our nation during this time period. Selected photos will be used as part of a video collage which will appear on our YouTube site during the Welcome Home celebration that will be held in honor of our Vietnam Veter-ans, March 26, 2013—March 29, 2013 and in commemora-tion of Vietnam Veterans Day on March 30, 2013. A link will be posted on our department Facebook and Twitter pages when the tribute is available to view. To be part of this tribute please email a photo* of you or your loved one by February 15, 2013 to [email protected]. *Minimum photo requirements: 4 x 6 or 5 x 7 inches, jpg or jpeg format only, one-to-three photos per submission.
