Your first order of business in Santorini is to hit the black sand beaches, especially southeastern Perissa or Kamari on the main island of Thira. Next up, check to see if the archaeological delights of Ancient Akrotiri are open to visitors. And if not, head to the island of Thirassia and climb the ancient stairs that lead to the historic city of Manolas. From there, catch a breathtaking view of the caldera, a brilliant turquoise pool of water that serves as nucleus for the varied isles of this archipelago. Some would say you only need a day to enjoy these islands' charms (they are a popular port of call for cruise ships). Not true. To really get a taste of all that is Santorini, you'll need a few days to a week. Then you'll have plenty of time to learn there's more to these comely dots of the Cyclades than meets the eye.

Maui is an attraction-filled destination that seems like a compilation of Hawaii's best qualities. Surfing beaches? Check. Volcanoes? Several. Family-friendly? Definitely. Posh resorts? Absolutely. Step off the plane, take one whiff of the plumeria blooms and you'll be hooked.

You should note that every Hawaiian island offers something different. With Maui, you can expect one of the most tourist-friendly experiences. The island is easily covered by car, and the diverse terrain keeps photos interesting. For most visitors, Maui excels at providing the envisioned Hawaiian vacation and is the perfect introduction to the archipelago.

If there was one word to describe the Greek island of Crete, it would be "diverse." Sandy beaches hide amongst soaring mountains, palm-tree forests grow in the middle of sprawling plains, bustling modern cities share coastline with ancient ruins. And speaking of cities -- in Crete they reflect the people that came before; the streets are lined with architecture mirroring the styles of the Minoans, the Venetians, the Ottomans as well as contemporary Greeks. Despite the visible contrasts, this island maintains a sense of unity felt whenever you step onto the street, dine at a local taverna or enjoy a glass of raki at a sidewalk café.

Where: Think about locations that mean something to your relationship – nothing is too boring or bizarre. How about that coffee shop where you noticed each other for the first time? How about that park where he proposed or that beach where you had your first kiss? Or just somewhere where you both like to venture together.

If you would rather, you can ask your photographer to pick out a location for you, they will throw out a few suggestions and you can brainstorm together. Either Way, there are a couple of things to consider. The first query I present my brides is whether they would like the shoot to be a Rural or Urban setting.

When: Be sure to check the weather when booking a date. It if calls for slight showers, I don’t worry about it too much as it often just ends up being overcast in my area (which is my personal preferred lighting). Bring an umbrella just in case. Even if you do get a little drizzle, that can look spectacular when lit from behind with a strobe and overall can really add a fairytale element to your shoot. Stormy clouds can look dramatic as well.

Time of day is important: If the weather calls for bright sunshine, and we don’t want that look for your particular shoot, you can do the photos earlier in the morning before the sun is too high and hot. Dusk is referred to as “The Golden Hour” and is popular for stunning sunset photos along the beach, and the increasingly popular evening photography, lit by an external flash or ambient city light.

Your only job is to have fun: You are not un-photogenic. Period. If you are having fun then you will look good. Smiles and laughter are amazing like that. For the most part, you will be cuddling up, as natural as you do on the couch :)

You’ve chosen your photographer based on whether or not you get along with them, and whether or not you like their photography style. Which means that you trust them. He or she will give you ample direction.

So just kick back, run around, goof off and have fun with your other. Because you’ll be surprised at how fun it is and how comfortable you will actually feel.

Themed Shoots: This is a trendy new take on the engagement shoot. You have your basic themes: Rural and Urban, but you can take it to the next level. If you are a big fan of a certain romantic movie or novel, you could recreate some scenes or use elements. Props: Bikes, your pet, unbrellas, gum, boots, bubbles, balloons, calkboard... Be comfortable with whatever theme you choose, remember that some styles will go out of style so try to keep your ideas classic.

Best for: Couples who appreciate high-end resorts and the high-stakes adventure of wall diving.

Not for: Those who want to explore local villages for exotic cultural experiences. The Caymans have an American standard (and style) of living.

Highlight: Scuba divers love the Sunken City of Atlantis, where a local artist is constructing a below-the-surface

here’s no better place for a laid-back honeymoon, where you’ll listen to hip-swaying music at every turn, than Jamaica—the birthplace of reggae.

Best for: Music fans. Best for: Couples who crave adventure in the sun. You can hike 10,000-foot peaks, windsurf in terrific cruising grounds, scout for humpback whales, snorkel and scuba dive with a kaleidoscopic array of fish and bike through the fecund countryside.

Not for: Haute cuisine. Chicken dinners with sides of rice and fried plantains are the norm. Your best bet is to choose the grilled fish—more than likely, it’s just off the boat.
