Bulgarian National AssociationPerfumery and Cosmetics

The Bulgarian National Association Per-fumery and Cosmetics was founded on 5th

May 1999 to grow into the Bulgarian Nation-al Association Essential Oils, Perfumery, andCosmetics (BNAEOPC) in May 2000. The Association unites 123 companies involved in the production and sale of essential oils, perfumery, and cosmetics.BNAEOPC is a member of the InternationalFederation of Essential Oils and AromaTrades /IFEAT/, an associated member of theEuropean Cosmetic Toiletry & Perfumery As-sociation /COLIPA/, member of the Bulgari-an Industrial Association, and of the Bulgar-ian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.Some of its members are international com-panies (through their local agencies), e.g.Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Cognis, S & DChemicals, Lowenstein, Bell Flavours & Fra-grances, Condea, Mane Fils, etc. Associa-tion of Bulgarian Cosmetologists is also amember of BNAEOPC.BNAEOPC maintains close relations withcounterpart industry associations in theRussian Federation /RFPC/, Germany /IKW/,Italy /UNIPRO/, etc.BNAEOPC assists its members in the pro-tection of their interests, in fighting unfaircompetition, in organizing their productionprocess up to modern standards.BNAEOPC is an immediate aide to the stateinstitutions which solve problems of the industry with its assistance, e.g. Council ofMinisters, Ministry of Economy, Ministry ofHealth, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry,etc. It is also a proactive participant in draft-ing on the Industry Associations in BulgariaBill.BNAEOPC’s organizational structure in-cludes:

• Essential Oils Producers and TradersCouncil

• Law Committee• Standardization and Certification Commit-

tee.

All ancillary bodies work devotedly for thesuccess of BNAEOPC’s activities.

The publishing activities of the industry as-sociation are focused on the preparationand publishing of the EU Guidelines and themajor manuals concerning the industry. The ESSENTIAL OILS, PERFUMERY, ANDCOSMETICS Science and Information Bul-letin was issued for a third year in a row andit constitutes a major aid for the industry ex-perts.The following training courses were held forthe specialists from our industry:

• Practical Training on the European Direc-tives related to the production quality con-trol and preparing information files of thecosmetic products launched on the mar-ket, 25-26 April 2001; Lecturer: Mrs. BirgitHuber, IKW/

• Seminar – training course for the man-agerial teams of the companies on theprescriptions of the European CosmeticsDirectives for the managers, 8-9 June2001, with the participation of Mr. Salev,RFPC, and Mr. Donnan, COLIPA.

• Strategic Planning in the Essential Oilsand Perfumery and Cosmetics Industry.Selecting and Working with Foreign Part-ners, 25 April 2002, Lecturer: J. Farin, USA.

• Trade, Marketing, Market Policy and Com-mercial Law, 14-16 November 2002

• Implementation of GMP and GLP by thecompanies from the perfumery and cos-metics industry, 11-13 December 2002.

BNAEOPC organized the participation ofmember companies at the following interna-tional events:

• Raw Materials for Cosmetics and for theHousehold Exposition, Prague, 28-29 No-vember 2001

• Cosmoprof 2003, Bologna.

istry of Economy, BNAEOPC orga-

nized the FIRST BULGARIAN NA-

TIONAL PARTICIPATION of the man-

ufacturers of perfumery and cosmet-

ics at INTERCHARM 2002. All partici-

pating companies went through a

screening procedure at the Industry

Association.

BNAEOPC maintains efficient relations withthe international programs providing assis-tance to the countries in transition, e.g.PHARE, FLAG, GTZ, CESO, JICA, as over 30companies from the industry received ex-pert assistance.BNAEOPC published a CATALOGUE 2003with the addresses of the Bulgarian essen-tial oils companies and cosmetic and toi-letries manufacturers; 130 pages, 20 Euro.Don’t hesitate to contact us and order it.
